Travel possibilities in Upper Assam

Can anybody tell me what are the travel possibilities in Upper Assam ? In december I would like to travel all the way from Saikhoa Ghat to - Kobo - Murkong Solek - Jonai - The Dibru Saikhowa National Park - Lamakuri - Dijmur - Sisi Bargaon - Dhemaji - North Lakhimpur (the area sandwiched between the northern Brahmaputra riverbank and the Arunachal Pradesh frontier). I would like to travel as an backpacker but at the moment I don't know what's possible in this remote area ? Travelling by boat; by road; by train by .... Is it possible to travel by local boat to all the Chars in the Bramaphutra river ? Is it safe in this area and do I need any permit in this remote Assam area ? Who can help me ?

hey i was in assam recently n i dont know why u have taken this route theres nothing great about it. you might as well jump into arunachal thats a very beautiful place. u dont need a permit for assam, u need one for arunachal and manipur.
u can take a train till north lakhimpur. i would not recommend u to travel alone in assam if u do beware of the police n stay out of karbianglong and north cahar districts and there is no night life so be back to your hotel before 8.
