Well, I'm a nature junkie, so my perspective is different. I've not been to Hampi; even though it is a long weekend outing from B'lore. I have been to the Niligris. When I was in Mysore, I visited the zoo and not the palace. I've seen two different kinds of mongoose, met a bull elephant in the jungle, found a tiger pawprint (pugmark) and I've seen a brahmani kite snatch a fish from a lake. That beats a temple any day of the week. :P

While we're living in India, I'm planning to skip Agra and Varanassi; but I will see VOF, Nanda Devi and Silent Valley.

Yes to wilderness and animal life too! The only point I was making was that India is a strange destination if one wants to avoid people. Granted you have (seemingly) found a way, but of course unless you parachuted in and were airlifted out, I doubt you've avoided humans getting there and back.
