Andaman and Nicobar! There are islands in this archipelago ere never contacted! Some of them are suspected to be cannibals. Many uninabited islands too. I guess the Andamans will spring a lot of remote places.

Has anyone toured Bastar? It has some remote, trecherous terrains in India. There are places within here which never saw the footstep of mankind.

Add Siachen Glacier to the list. Despite Indain and Paki army's presence. It is the most inhospitable place on earth that is actually inhabited.

There is a tomb on a mountain top near a smallish city in Maharashtra that is stunningly lonely. The locals know it by the wrong attribution. However, it is described in the 1870's district gazateer. You need a motorcycle to get there and a local and a strong psychological center not to be affected..

The email addresses work and so does the tel. nos. of the Kochi office. Dont forget to add a prefix of 2 if the tel. number takes you nowhere or else search for the latest number from the website www.bsnl.co.in. The ship I had been to MV Tipu Sultan is basic. Book for the 2 or 4 bedded Cabins and if you want it to be more economic opt for the Tourist Class push back seats. The tickets are all inclusive.. I recommend the Coral Reef Package and the MWAP package.
If you are planning to be there, book at least 4-6 months in advance. Tourism is restricted on these islands.
This is individual preference and point of view.
I found many many remotest places in Himalayas,Sahyadri mountains and even while I was travelling...found myself along on a lonely beach in KONKAN REGION...near RATNAGIRI. only a light house in far distant place...honestly saying...I was afraid..all of a sudden I feel that there should be someone there. I found a family which was taking care of that lighthouse. Drinkable water was there...

You do not feel that fear in mountains..( strange ! ) but this experience being lonely on a long beach ,was somewhat different !

I'm with you !! The sea can be quite scary at times, especially on a dark, monsoon day with thunder and lightning providing the spooky ambience !!

The mountains are always friendly and welcoming!!

Amanath Cave with it's Shiva ice lingam was a lonely place, at least outside of the Yatri it was, though these days I'd be aprehensive to even go to Pahalagam let alone 2/3 days hike out of there,,,,,,,,,,,,

None of the guys here mentioned about the high lying deserts of Himalayas. How can you people forget about the places on the way to leh, extremely rough dry and patchy, usually not much of a crowd just the passerby, Just switch off the road to the remote sections and I bet if you can trace urself where on earth you are !
Godd!! Atleast I can say that i have seen a martial or lunar landscape on earth.

My bet - Anywhere in Ladakhi territory which is off road and not a place of everyone's tea is the MOST REMOTE PLACE IN India.

How about Mizoram, Tripura and Manipur? Has anyone on this forum been to any of these states?

If you have, what were they like? Are they worth a visit?

Why don't you start a thread about this place? It sounds great and also sounds as if you could tell so many good things about the area
