Sharnga Guesthouse in Auroville/Pondicherry rentals
Hey everyone!
I've decided to settle down in Pondicherry for at least six months from October onwards while I try to finish writing a novel, and I've been looking online for accommodation options, thinking about renting a nice simple apartment, preferably near the beach side of things... Does anyone have any recommendations for real estate agents or ways to go about renting a place in Pondicherry? Alternatively, I've been looking into staying at Auroville for at least my first month, and was sent a quote from Sharnga guesthouse for a room that is rs. 800 per day. It includes breakfast and dinner etc., but is still a little above my budget I think. The place looks amazing though! Has anyone stayed at Sharnga before and could tell me a little about staying in the guesthouse? Thanks for your help! |

pondi rentals
hi,
like you, i am also looking for an apartment or house to rent near the shore side of pondi. But apparently the rental price is way over my budget - most of the properties around R6000+ So i am thinking that if we could do a bit of sharing might be a way. am from sydney and staying in pondi for the next four month till jan2010. And i am learning music and classical dance here. So if you are interested pls give me a ring on 9597541451 (local cell). all the best Esha |

Thanks for that reply, Esha! That sounds like a good plan, but I'm not in India until the last day of October and won't arrive in Pondicherry until at least the 5th of November. Are those rental costs per week or per month? rs 6000 is definitely too expensive for a week! I've booked a guesthouse in Auroville for a month, but from 10th December I'll need to find a place to rent, so if you still need to find someone to live with then we could work something out?? Sounds like you're doing some interesting things over there, I'd love to meet up anyway!

pondi rentals
Hi, thanks for the e-mail. the rent is for monthly. And i just found a brand new 2 bed house which is very well located and 100m away from sea shore for R7000/month. Even i have found someone to share the place, You are always welcome to stay if you can not find a place around that time (the new years period is very hectic in Pondi, i had very difficult time to find anything decent last year).
Take care Esha |

Me too, i like to rent a room in Pondicherry near the beach, i arrive in Chennai 5 Nov for stay until 28 April,
6-7000 a month look really good, think i have to hurry down to Pondicherry. But i may need to find out first if it's possible to kitesurf there. or if the beach are to crowded.

Esha, did you find your flat through a broker? I am just beginning my search for a place now, staying at the Park Guesthouse. Not sure where to find a trustworthy broker or private landlord! Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!?

hey if anyone is interested in sharing a place in Pondicherry and doing a search together, please contact me... I'm Amy, a 27 year-old female from Melbourne, Australia, I've just come to Pondicherry for a quiet place to write a novel. Would love to meet up if anyone is interested in finding a place! I'm already here but might not start the search properly until December... anyway, please give me a call on 9159180949

I will be getting into Tamil Nadu New Years eve then looking for a place in late Jan. I'm a 25/yr old male from hippie Oregon, USA. If you can find a place with a kitchen I would be down to share a place, but if not I was planning on visiting Pondicherry and would at least be up to meet a traveler. email me at deke.swallen -at- gmail-dot-com if either sounds good =)
