Seriously Off the Beaten Trail
Hey all,
I'm going to Southern Karnataka and Northern and Southern Kerala. It's been said that this is supposed to be the busiest tourist year for India to date, having said that can anyone suggest any places in these areas where I wont bump into too many tourists. Would just hoping off a train and getting off in a city ive never heard of in any travel book be good. Any suggestons? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

What time do you plan to go? From mid December to early January all the places would be chock a block with people - mountains, restorts, beaches - you name it you have people there.

If you want to do to a place which is not touristy..visit Coorg. There are lot of homestays there. Families let out rooms for people to stay.
You will not bump into any tourists. If you have a cycle..you can go around the place...and have a quite time yourself. |

true, but i didn't go to the north yet. planning a trip after summer. Somehow it's a shame that so little people bother to discover it, on the other hand, maybe it's for the better. but still i think andhra is heavily underrated. |

The best "off the beaten trail" .... doesn't exist!!!
I think that the best experience you could have will be the one that you discover alone: talk to locals, ask for a temple or for a pic-nic spot or a village or simply jump on a bus and go for it!
