Secluded beach within 2-4hrs of Bombay?
Anyone know of a fairly accessible nice beach within 2-4hrs of Bombay? Criteria (in order):
Accessibility Not overrun by crowds, esp. considering we will be there just after new year (BTW, is new year (31st Dec) celebrated much in India?) Fairly nice beach. By nice, I mean something which has a bit of forest at the foreshore and no more than a handful of buildings. A beach with character, I suppose. Seen plenty of beaches - I want an Indian beach. That's what I mean. Price - under 1000R for a double. |

Thanks mate. Looks like there's no hand holding. Really just need a good solid website to convince my girlfriend that we should be going to the coast rather than Matheran (as we're spending a fair bit of time in Uttaranchal). What I'm really, really looking for, is a secluded, definite place, preferably a backwards little village, with a 5 star website.

Try Kashid. I think it fits your req perfectly. The place to stay is Prakruti beach resort.

Looks good. Not a backward village, but certainly a 4-5 star website...
Any idea how much? |

Beaches
Dont try getting into any beaches around Mumbai on New Year ...drunkards will be all over the place..and Beaches turn into Bitches ..if you still want to go ahead try DIVEAGAR which is about 5-6hrs drive overland..but if you take aferry from AGARDANDA or RAJPURI (Close to Murud near alibaug) and cross over to Dighi ..from DIGHI its about 15kms or less (not too sure)..Cheers -have fun
