Peaceful retreat, south or west India?

writer looking for a peaceful and beautiful place in goa or west karnataka.
"peaceful" means no traffic noise, being able to hear birds sing and leaves rustle in the wind. as few humans as possible.
"beautiful" means no pollution, no garbage lying around, movement of water (river or sea), lush vegetation and healthy vibrant wildlife.
i know this is a lot to ask in this extremely polluted and over-populated country, but...any suggestions?

I've deleted your other 2 threads and re-named this one, thread titles are important, people rarely have time to read new threads and will only reply if they think they have something useful to offer, the previous title would have just been ignored by me as I didn't know (by the title) what you were looking for, I only looked because you had made the same thread 3 times.

Add your home location, it will help others to know what you're used to.

As a moderator, I know your location, I just thought if you mentioned it others could compare that place when making a recommendation, "this place is similar to that place on your home place".

Wow, too many words used there I think, but I hope you get what I mean.

Mangla farm in the Western Ghats, Goa, it's on the back road between Chaudi and Quepem. A guesthoue on a tropical flower nursery, set amonst the jungle and hills. Amazing bird watching, waterfalls rivers and ancient rock carvings. Unfortunately they just pulled down the old Krishna Temple here, but the bubbling tank remains intact!

Pepper Valley Can be very tranquil, much depends on the other guests. Again a wonderful location on the Banks of a river where you can take a dip. The jungle walks are amazing. Very basic huts here and I'm not sure about the prices! All set in a Betel Plantation!
Take a left at the Cotigao National Park entrance you'll see the signs!!

Try Terekol Fort, Goa.
The resort is bit pricy but you get what you want, peace.(yeah, that's possible in India)

There's a few places for rent now, at the Cabo De Rama sea fort. Again very tranquil with lots of sandy and rocky coast to explore, as well as the fort and surrounding Jungle, great little beach here with usually no one on it!!
Look out for the Dolphins!

I spent a very relaxing four days in the coorg region of Karnataka at a town called Madikeri. It's up in the hills, very green,a few waterfalls around, reasonably priced. For what you want the coffee plantations around there have questhouses where you are right out in the country.I took a 4 or 5 hour bus ride from Mysore. It's about an 8 hour bus ride south east of Gokarna.

The river camps at Dandeli would suffice though I hear they are a bit expensive, Dandeli itself is nice but traffic noise would be an issue!

cyberhippie, thank you for replying in both places i couldn't find anything on the mangla farm/guesthouse, though. would be grateful for some lead on that.
thank you anindya911 and canadon, great recommendations.

I did find a most magical place in north goa on the chapora river (15km inland)that is exactly what i was looking for, but as it will become available only in a few months, i'd still love to hear if someone has are any other suggestions.

Though I didn't find it that special.

Like you said CH, Cabo De Rama would be a better option imho. You have a beach all to yourself. There's a little temple on top of a hill there with nice views all around, with no people. And theres a house for rent there and a restaurant.

And here's a pic of the empty beach at Cabo De Rama.

Here's a pic of the wild boar they illegally killed at Pepper Valley.

Though I was last there 4 years ago, so maybe it's not the same now.
