Murthi
Hi Avik!
Journey : 1.Catch Kanchankanya Exp from Sealdah ETD Evening 2. Get down at Malbazar Junction (journey from NJP to Mal is heavenly..unforgetable!) 3. Take a cab from the Stn to go to Murthi Forest Bunglow - or go to Lataguri (Gateway to Garumara). There are plenty of private hotels or resorts. No advance booking is required if you avoid week end. 4. Accoommodation(my preference) : visit WBFDC's office at Wellington Square and book a room at their Murthi Forest Bunglow. Excellent accommodation and people at the Bunglow will arrange vehicle, ticket and guide etc. Besides Garumara, u can also visit Jaldhaka, Jaldapara etc. by road. The entire area is quite peaceful and u can plan for week's holiday. |

Thanks a lot
Hi Asish
Thanks a lot for the info...can you throw some light on an estimation of the expenses likely to be incurred and the ideal span of the holidays? Actually based on that I'll have to take leave from my office.... Thanks in advance Regards Avik |

Dooars
Hi Avik!
U can plan for total 7 days including journey time. If you restrict your itenery to Garumara, Jaldhaka etc. as also Jaldapara, you need to stay at two places - (a) Murthi (stay at WBFDC Bunglow) and Madarihat (for Jaldapara wild life sanctuary, stay at Madarihat Tourist Lodge owned by WBTDC). If you are single visitor, you will need appox 1000/- per day, but if you are two or more, it will be around 800/ per day. Please remember this estimation is for budget purpose only..it may vary depending upon various factors and you should be prepared (carrying Credit or Debit Card etc.) for that. By the way. u are from Durgapur, which place? I started my career at Durgapur long back, spent my best years of life there at a place called Viswakarmanagar. I worked with DSP first and with MAMC later. Its a beutiful place, indeed! |

Dooars on bike
Great idea. But only if u r an expert biker! The roads in Dooars are generally good, but u have to roam around in the forest, where roads may be very primitive, you may have to cross dry river bed, where two wheeler may skid. Nevertheless, u can use Bike to reach your primary destinations. Thereafter, I suggest u use local transport and driver for exploring the Dooars. It seems to beu r young and I am impressed with your interest in off the beaten track like Dooars! But honestly speaking, I have travelled exentinsively through India, been to Dooars number of times, but Dooars never tires me. Go for it, it will not disappoint u!!!

I think it is not necessay as long as u r travelling withing the State of WB. But, obviously, carry all required documents/papers etc. as usual.
Happy journey! Sball wait to read your travel tales at a later date. Bye! |

Hi
I have just returned from Gorumara NP trip. The place is lovely, warm during day and cool during the nights. We stayed at a private Resort at Lataguri, Gorumara Elephant Camp which I would recommend if any one wants to stay at Gorumara NP. We also stayed at Chapramari Wilderness Camp beside river Murti. Preferably opt for a local guide to do all the bookings for the trip.It becomes easier. If anyone needs any info, I can help you out. I have the guide's number. |

No one replied !! Anyways i've got rid of our booking at Rashikbill, and instead booked a resort at Jayanti. Sounds good to me. ![]() |
