Thanks Asish

Many thanks Asish for providing this information. Actually, I like to make a trip there around October of 2009. That's why I'm gathering informations regarding Jayanti/Buxa. Can you give me the details of Dy Chief Conservator of Forest, Buxa Tiger Reserve, Alipurduar so that I can contact there to book Forest Bunglow. Can this be booked via phone or letter? It will be better for me if you give me good suggestions

Can anyone help me find the details of such destinations?
There are quite a few places in around the region and are isolated from the crowd. In West Bengal some of the places are Makaibari Home stay, Reshi, Pedong, Bagura, Samthar Valley, Raliekhola, Chitrey, Chapramari, Bindu, Parren Basty, Chilapata, Raseekbill. In Sikkim Okhrey, Lingtam, Mangan, Arhitar, Hilley and Richenpong are places I generally visit this places.

neora national park

We will be visiting north bengal this november. Our itinerary is as follows:

day 1, 2 & 3- Lepchajagat

Day 4 - Mongpong

Day 5, 6 & 7 - Neora national park. Our travel agent is advising us to stay these 3 days in Neora River resort, a newly developed resort and they will arrange for sightseeing and forest safaris in different forests.

Plz advise on the suitable spots for visit.

Is it advisable to stay all 3 days in one place and do the safaris? We will have 2 small babies with us and do not want to shft base every alternate day.

Is it advisable to travel to that area with two small babies ? Given the situation there, think twice. Perhaps nothing will go wrong. But in case there is a sudden bandh call .... Not really discouraging you, but hope that you've sincerely thought about that issue.

So far i am concerned Gorkha Mukti Morcha(?)Council has declared that

1)
They will not call any Bandh upto 21st December before second meeting with Centre.

2)The state Sikkim has won the case againgst GJMM for closing Silliguri road as it was hampering tourists flow in Sikkim. So blocking Silliguri road has been declared illegal by the court
as it is the prime connecting root for sikim.

Still there is risk, though little for this year puja time.

Rocky Island

An exclusive spot for adventure camping with 5 Acre Highland beside the dancing Murty River on a U–Turn at Samsing Hills, actually lies in Kalimpong Division of Darjeeling District, Samsing is the lower range of Neora Valley National Sanctuary and Lava the upper range, whose topmost point is Reche-la, 3152 meter and Rechela Danda is the confluence of Sikkim, Bhutan and West Bengal.

The open spaces within large rocks and trees are mainly composed of Cottage Tents with modern Toilet facilities and some bright lightweight Tents, which can be fitted anywhere within the area to enjoy nature. The large rocks provide easy and funny climbing and balancing practice for everyone. Some individual rocks are familiar for their size and shapes namely Pathar Kailas, Hansdunga, Bhimsen, Nilkant-ji and one large cave ‘Casper’ completes the scene. Murty the river playing with whitewater and its blue waterpools are enough for a traveler to enjoy the leisure and one can explore the surrounding hills and forests, the bio-diversity and avifauna, the Sherpagaon and Bhalukope, the Jhandidara and Mo-chu with a little trek as per capacity and choice.

Laying on the south eastern fringe of the Neora Valley National Park, Suntalekhola offers a trail leads to the left from the first bend of the tar road approached from the bungalows and ends at Lava after a three-day trek The trail leads steeply through thick broadleaved tropical and semi-tropical forests via Mouchouki, Rechila Top (4500m), Alubari and Pankhasari Ridge.
Several trek routes originate from Suntale Khola. The Neora Valley National Park is adjacent to this place and most treks are organised in the surrounding area of the NP. Trekkers can take a steep ride to `Tree Fern Point` and `Mo` or `Mo Chaki` for a great view of the Himalayas in one side and the plains of Dooars in the other. The hills of Bhutan and `Jelepla`, the pass connecting Tibet with India, can be seen from here. The most fascinating and thrilling trek leads to the untouched wilderness of Neora Valley National Park. Special permission of the forest department is required in order to organise this trek.
Next to Suntalekhola is the small picturesque village of Faribasti. The village has about 30 households and is very well maintained. Flower gardens are common in almost all households. Some of the households have started homestay for tourists.
