Meghalaya and Mizoram! Advice..!

Hey guys..!

Finally.. After lingering around for over 2 months.. I register..! :-)

I'm a 22 y.o. student.. from Mumbai.. been backpacking on and off through the west and the north for about 3 years now.. planning to do the Northeast now.. In Kolkata right now, and going to be here for a couple of weeks before I leave for Assam, as a transit- to get to Meghalaya- and from there Mizoram.. 10 days each roughly I guess.. I'm doing my research alright.. but any must-knows for anyone going to the NE?.. I;ve read a lot about the NE and the music.. But any first-hand experiences? What's the general music trend..? and how open are the localites.. how hard is it to get around the states..? local transport..? how cheap/expensive is the transport bit..? travelling on a tight budget..!

Anyone planning to go to the NE in May..?? and any experiences of people who've been there are most welcome..!
