Meditative places in India to settle down

Hello,

I am thinking of moving permanently to India.

I will quickly give my background and then ask a question about permanent settling (not tourism/traveling) --

Background: born in bombay, moved to New York for a job in early-20's, currently 29 and single in NYC.

Question 1:
Where can I move to find a meditative spot for an extended period, for a period of say 2-3 y?

i. some natural beauty (not seeking anything spiritually)
ii. fresh food supply of fruit, veggies and some fish/meat so I can cook for myself.
iii. basic internet
iv. no snakes or overly crazy wildlife pls
v. I can procure a max of 15,000 INR per month for my living but something much lesser would be great

Your suggestions are welcome.

thanks
p

Give it time, I'm certain this is available in India - a viewpoint I have is all those towns that the Konkan railway train passed thru between Mumbai and Chiplun( the bottom three-quarters). As the train rattled thru them, it truly reminded me of India in the early and mid-1960s.

If you find the spot you are looking for - let me know !

In South India, Mysore might be a suitable place ! . Reasons being :

1) No Pollution [Almost 0% Pollution]
2) Very famous Place for Yoga in south india
3) Lots and lots of Greenery / Parks
4) No Traffic Jams / No Mad Traffic / No Crowds[Ofcourse except near the tourist places like Palace or Zoo Or Chamundi Hills]
5) Economical when compared to bigger cities
6) Variety of scenic / Happening Places to roam around [ in case you would need a break] - Coorg / Wayanad /ooty /Bangalore all are in 3- 4 hours reach !
7) Nice Pleasant climate all through the year.

Hope this helps

yes, yes keep them coming, pls.

i was thinking of a goa village away from the hippies and on weekends sing in a band like in my iit days. earn petty cash + get interest from my savings. hopefully boink some babes w/o commitment ... but most importantly live off without caring about a god-darned career.

but these suggestions are good. konkan and mysore-side... being ethnically from goa/raised in bombay, i enjoy southern cuisine more than mutter paneer and aloo chaat. both are excellent for their Hindustani musicianship which is primarily important.

also, what is a good area/state to get Hindustani vocal lessons. I trained in gwalior gharana and would like to pursue that. kirana is ok also.

this pretty much rules out most, if not all, of India.

OK so some crazy wildlife is OK.

any suggestions in India south of Gujarat/Madhya Pradesh line?
I'm ethnically from Goa os basically prefer food and music of the west and south.

mysore and goa are fine. is there a great maharashtra/kerala/karnataka town I can live by on 15k/month or less (rent included)?

please suggest!

Om beach, near Gokarna, might suit you. But it is nowadays perhaps too well known. Somewhere "undiscovered" as yet near there, perhaps.

sorry boy - but i think you should rephrase that one.
This forum is made by members of both genders, and me personally find this kind of male chauvinistic talk quite offensive.

Other members gave you a lighter comment on that, but it ain't working with me today.

don't give him more attention than he deserves larkilli.
i do agree that it was an offensive comment [ not sexist - plain offensive ] -
an apology hardly helps - from certain kind of mind-sets.

ridicule his thread - more my style
