Question looking for a secluded guesthouse in the himalayas in the surroundings of nature...

Hey there,

On the 18th may i'll be flying out to delhi, then taking a bus up north... Im looking for a guesthouse nestled up in the himalayas, away from civilization, and surrounded by natural beauty. I wish to stay for nine weeks. At the moment I am thinking of a place called appleview guesthouse, but my only reservtions are that it is too close to the tourist centre of manali I understand the most far out places are probably not going to be mentioned on the internet or any guidebook, etc.. so thats why im here.

Anybody have any ideas? I am open to any suggestions, so long as the location is mountainous and secluded...
thanks a million!

Dear tomlewis8,

Near Manali, you can visit Dhungri village. Here you have some tiny guest houses or you may opt for inexpensive homestays also. usually homestays are Rs. 100 per day or so.

I have always enjoyed my stay at the Trekker's Hut near Ketcheoperi Lake in West Sikkim. Quite basic but freiendly proprietor, nice food and quiet most of the day, yet wasily accessible. Spend a full day by the lake or take a walk up to the hermitage above. But please respect the sacredness of the place, keep your voices and appearance low!

You can also try the Chitkul Guest House in the Sangla valley. One of the most beautiful and secluded guest houses I have ever seen.

How about Bhandari G/H just outside Kashol in Parvati valley set in Apple orchards for 50Rs p/n. It's the shantiest place i've ever stayed very secluded yet just a 10 min walk from Kashol.
P.S there will be other tourists staying that's how G/H's work!!!
