location in maharashtra
does anyone know the location of a town called Karanjadi in maharashtra.
i think it is close to the 'highway' 17 near the town of Poladpur (26 km west of Mahabaleshwar). i need to know its proximity to Poladpur, it should be close to it but i cant find it on any maps. i have already tried mapsofindia.com (website, i have not got cd-rom) i have also tried Nelles western india map and also tried lonely planets india and bangladesh road atlas. i have even tried http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/EART/india/250k.html click on NE 43 9 jpq, then go to top right corner of map for the right area) i think my only chance is someone who knows the area. thanks in advance. It is indeed a stop on the 'Ratnagiri-Dadar' Passenger train .
It's where the Natuwadi tunnel (on the Konkan Railway) is situated, which is 3.5km long between Karanjadi and Diwan Khauti. You can find more details on this link : http://www.goa2u.com/goadadarratnakiritrain.htm |

Thanks for the replies, I think I should have put more thought into the question.
I would like to know the location in relation to Poladpur, as I am looking for an easy way from Mahabaleshwar to Pernem. The road from Mahabaleshwar hits highway 17 at Poladpur and I would like to know how to get from there to Karanjadi train station, there is a train going south at 10:13 so it would not leave a lot of time to investigate localy. Any info would be most welcome. |

it would be much easier if you take a bus from Poladpur to Khed or Chiplun. You will be able to catch most of Exp/Mail trains from Khed/Chiplun. There are State Transport buses plying between all around the clock and the travel will take 30-60 minutes at the most. Karanjadi is just a small halt where only the couple of Passenger trains stop like Dadar-Madgaon, Diva-Sawantwadi, Dadar-Ratnagiri, etc. If you insists on traveling by train only then checkout the useful website for trains in Konkan route http://www.konkanrailway.com and click on "Current Train Positions" for the live train positions and expected arrival times. Hope this helps Anindya
