| ajaybijoor | Kaladhungi - Corbett Country Jan 2008 Kaladhungi is not a very familiar destination on travellers maps but is surely a place worth a visit. About 30 kms before Nanital, Kaladhunagi is "Corbetts" village with the only landmark being his home - which is now a museum. Very few places to stay which include one Govt. guest house and another place run by locals (which I got to know of, on enquiry with the musuem chowkidar!). I chose to stay at Camp Corbett run by the Anand's. Though pricey (then Rs 4k per day for a couple)everything is very well taken care of... The camp includes a huge patch of forested land which is perfect for those who want to remain lost in the wilderness! Best of all was the loveable Manager-cum-Naturalist who takes interested guest around for birding trips around the place. Ideal for those who love the forests and are looking for an undisturbed experience of the wilderness - at a fair price Kaladhungi is just an hour (30-odd km) from Haldwani which I would feel is the closest railway station |
