Honeymoon Mountain Getaway

Hi,
I'm planning on spending some quality time with my wife in the month of May in the Himalayas...does anybody know any good off-the beaten track romantic, picturesque little spot were I can do just that?..I' looking at a week in the 3rd week of May 2008. Please suggest some nice unspoilt, non-touristy places. Thanks

Regards,

Sikkim - amazing, unspoilt, clean, less crowded...

Well the crowd's actually started to Sikkim as seen from IM posts, so now is the time.

Ramgarh, Mukteshwar, Lansdowne, Majhkali..... Mukteshwar is a bit more popular on the tourist trail and Majhkali is pretty short on accomodation and the closes place would be Ranikheth but thats not quiet...

Ramgarh and Lnsdowne are excellent locations in my opiniont to consider... if you go to my blog i had done a write up on both (this they are still up with some pictures as well) ...

I would find somewhere far from Haldwani/Kathgodam (or Haridwar/Rishikesh) in May.

Everybody and his mother in law will be heading for the hills then.

So 'head for the hills' is not something which works with mother-in-laws then....

Lake Sattal

In early March my wife and spent a timeshare week at The Mountain Club near Lake Bhimtal . We deliberatly picked a low altitude(around 3500m) to avoid any possible snow or cold weather. We were well ahead of the season, and wandered along the trekking trails with almost no company. It's a long way from the tall peaks, but the weathwer was nice. Our real find was the Country Club Hotel at Lake Sattal about 12km from Bhimtal town. Most of the lakeshore is undisturbed, a combination private and government ownership. An ideal series of small mountain lakes far from the maddening crowd, surrounded by steep slopes with primitive trails. The hotel just opened in Jan. 2008, and everything is new and shiny. The only customers for two night, We paid 2500r/night with breakfast. The small staff fell all over themselves to anticipate our every desire - real and imagined - and kept us well-fed from their ggod kitchen. At sunset the few boatmen on the lake went away to distant homes and the glassy lakes look like a Swiss Alps painting. It was a let down to retreat to 91F Delhi to catch our flight back to Seattle. Don't know how crowded Sattal will be in high season. Note: The Country Club Hotel Seven Lakes is NOT the Country Club Resort in Bhimtal, although they have the same ownership.

We are planning Guwahati-Tawang in May 2008. However, getting the ILP is a problem. Looks like we will have to rely on the travel agencies for that.
