I liked Gulbarga on my recent 4th tour of India.
The hotel was cheap and very good value for money. There were NO tourists anywhere which made it interesting to see India without the influence of tourism. The Muslim monuments incl. the famous jama masjid inside the old fort, the haft gumbad, The Dargah of gesu Nawaz sahib etc. were all great chances to see Deccani muslim architecture at its best and Deccani Urdu culture at work. Bidar and Bijapur are much more touristed but Gulbarga was Ok. I didn't get a chance to go to Firozabad , the ruins of the old palace of the Sultan from the 1400's but Gulbarga is worth a stop if you are touring the North of karnataka. |

Heyyy.. I was born there ; I was about to say I've never been there but that would be silly - I mean I don't recall ANYTHING about it. I'm adding it to my go-to list for my upcoming visit.
