Got 10 days, your suggestions please!
Hi,
I'm posting here after a long time. I'll cut right to the chase, I have a few days in my hands before I board a flight and leave for my higher education. I want to explore and chillout for a few days before that. This is not a trip where I go and pose for photos to be posted on orkut but to basically unwind and experience nature. Please suggest some nice places with the following qualities: 1) Less crowded (not a tourist spot) 2) I'm not a big fan of hot weather, any cool place will do 3) Good to trek and explore 4) Cheap accomadation and travel I'm basically looking for places in Himachal, Uttarakhand and Jammu. I've also short listed the following places, please suggest more. Later on I will post my full itenary. 1)Manali and surrounding areas especially Parvati valley 2)Spliti and surrouding areas, kinnaur etc. 3)Ladakh and leh Thanks for your suggestions. |

You shoud try Kausani or Ranikhet in Uttarakhand. Also Harsil is a very nice place to stay. You might also consider Auli.

I wouldn't mind those, but they are already popular locations and might be haunted with tourists... but if you think you know of any guesthouse or secluded house stays there please post the contact info.. thanks.

Kinnaur valley is an amazing place..10 days wont be too much for Spiti and Kinnaur, if you want it to be a leisure trip. If you wish to visit as many places as you can in these 10 days, may add Manali in the list.. but donot give a miss to Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti

Yes. There are some tents (in 1998 there were two tents) who provide food, tea and accomodation.

there is a bus service from Manali to Kaza. On the route, get down at Chhota Dhara for Chandrataal. From there Chandrtaal is an approx 4 kms trek.Another is, on the same route get down at Kunzung La (4551 mtr) and trek down to Chandrataal ( 4270 mtr). It is a beautiful trek, though around 6-8 kms.
