Its a pity you said "by road" - There's all that sea around it that I can't discuss. Meanwhile, the suburbs and exurbs of Mumbai stretch for miles and miles all the way to Badlapur ( or worse perhaps nowadays) so a day trip means spending that time first getting OUT of Bombay...

I know, but being in a group, its easier by road and thats more comfortable for a day trip

you are right abt getting out of Mumbai,

i stay in the northern part of w.suburbs so getting out is easy in that direction

regards

Hello Brishti
How was your trip to the vineyards and to Trimbak? Looking forward to reading about it.

Yes you are right, I like to do short road trips to pretty places near Mumbai, provided the roads are traffic and pothole free. On Independence Day we took advantage of the reduced traffic and went to Borivili national park, which was very pleasant indeed. The highlight was a herd of spotted deer, and the karvy blooms.

On the next day, we did another pleasant day trip to a densely forested area on the outskirts of the Tansa sanctuary. Must take full advantage of the monsoons while they last.

I heartily second Brishti's suggestion. That a vicarious thrill. There are IMHO, at least two things in India worth dying for: The verdant beauty of the Sahyadris in the rainy season and the majestic splendor of the Himalayas.
