Thumbs up Join you.

Hi Taz.
Just saw your post and am planning exactly the same trip in July / August. I am an Aussie traveller (30) in Kathmandu leaving for Delhi next few days before heading up to Ladakh. It would be awesome to join you since i was hoping to find a climbing partner for Stok kangri when i arrived and doing the ride alone is becoming complicated.

I am an experienced rockclimber (ACIA quals) with some high altitude experience yet limited technical mountaineering experience. I am also a mad keen mountain biker and adventure racer bake home and can't wait to get back on the bike after two months of trekking across Nepal from the eastern border over Mera La and Tashi Labsha passes (5500/5700m)climbed mera peak.

So if you a keen for me to join you, I am flexible with dates and we could even travel from Delhi together? Hope to here from you soon...

Andre

Hi Andre. If you fancy cycling up to Leh on your way from Manali, you'll probably meet some independent travellers you can join. That'd give you great acclimatisation. Though after 2 months trekking in Nepal, you should be doing great already. We are cycling Shimla - Spiti - Keylong - Manali, starting around July 6-8. A couple of friends are doing a similar trip 2/3 weeks later. But I'm not sure you can find a decent bike in Delhi to do the trip. You can definitely find cheap ones, not sure how good they are. As for racks and panniers... Taz lawrie can probably tell you more on that particular point. Don't count on finding anything worthy in Leh. Easier to find MTB in Katmandu, though with all the pbs in Tibet, noone is coming from that side (quite a few people resell the bikes they bought in Lhasa, usu decent Giant MTB with shimano gears plus racks and sometimes even panniers).

Let's Ride!

Hi Nannette and Taz.

Thanks for your replies and the advice. I have just arrived in Delhi today felling very sticky! Was not able to bring a bike from Kathmandu. I had to fly since there was a transport strike?! But thanks for the the post about the Merida shop. I will go check it out tommorrow. Nannette and Taz, it would be really great if we could all get sorted to start in Shimla (that was my original route plan to Keylong then heading up to Leh) as the timing (5 July would be ideal for me). Maybe Taz if you have time the next days we can meet up in Delhi to make some plans for climbing etc... you can email me directly avkombi(at)hotmail(dot)com.

Take care hope to see you guys soon. Andre
