To think about it, rain makes the valley fecund.. its all shades of green... but the off beaten trail at the same time, is what gets washed in the rain. I guess only concrete path stay put in monsoons.
So is monsoon off beaten trail a myth? I hope we find one. |

Monsoon in himalayas- yes !!
I love lower hills and what else will be better than having a drive in SIRMAUR distt. Had spent 4 days here...and loved this place. But if you ask me...I love SAhYADRI MOUNTAINS and it is heaven on earth when it rains. You can also add little bit KONKAN region in this. |

Month July
Dates: 25th July - 29th July I started from Chandigarh and via KALA UMB road reached RENUKA LAKE. From Renuka Lake we reached RAJ GARH and from here we traveled to SHION BAGH via CHAIL. Chail was wonderful and now camping business is on boom here but no doubt over priced. We stayed at TOSHALI RIVER VIEW RESORT and next day traversed to SOLAN via SADHU PUL. From SOLAN , we again cross-over to KASAULI and came back via SNAWAR for Chandigarh. |

I support the idea of visiting Binsar in Uttranchal, that is really an off beat place to visit.

My choice -
1) Umiam Lake in Meghalaya (around 40kms before Shillong while approaching from Guwahati) 2) Bomdila (on Tezpur-Guwahati route) 3) Orcchha on Jhansi-Khajuraho route

Another perfect place to visit "off the beaten track" during monsoon time is Sanchi not far from Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.

In South, Ooty, coorg, chikmaglur, Allepy and goa are great.
In North, and in the Himalayas - every place is great. |
