Brisso: I toured twice. The first time on a Hero Honda CBZ for a bit over 8000km in 3.5 months and the second time on a Bajaj Pulsar I think it was over 12,000km and I spent about 7 months doing it. I will post some more stuff about the trips, but perhaps a bit later on.

Well Bundi is beautiful, we had a lovely time there - its friendly, hassle free, peaceful and so pretty. The palace and fort are in glorious decay (a bit sad though) and Haveli Katkoun is a really chilled and friendly place to stay, we had a lovely room and the boys that run it (the sons of the Major) are real sweeties. I regret recommending it to the person with the toddler, as they are half way through renovations and it is a bit of a death trap (but then so are most places in India) - still if you keep a close eye it will be fine, there were toddlers there when we were there.

Only word of warning - I was heading to the roof of the haveli and was jumped by a monkey... didn't bite me thank god but gave me a really nasty scratch through 3 layers of clothes. It was actually really scary, it really went for me. Apparently they are causing a bit of a problem for all the places there as they are quite aggressive and you can't leave anything anywhere - leave your door open for a minute and they are in!

Also it was very cold - but then so was the whole of Rajasthan, and Delhi was freezing we're actually enjoying the heat in Mumbai!

We had a lovely meal in Bundi and I can't remember the name of the restaurant - its not in the books..

A couple of corners along from Haveli Katkoun we were accosted by an absolutely gorgeous and extremely smart 9 year old girl who completely charmed us in beautiful English into trying her Mum's food - they also have a tiny guesthouse.

Its in their family home, which is a traditional 4 floored affair round a central 'well' - the kids are gorgeous, the food is really lovely, and they have a pet tortoise called Gopi - we ended up eating there twice, and the little girls were teaching Oscar Bollywood dances.

If anyone has the same experience - go to the restaurant, and if anyone already has can you remember the name????

Yep - he's a cutie all right. And very nice also. Here's a photo of Ragoun with his nephew Kush.

Did either of you go to the restaurant with Gopi the turtle and the little girls?

Does Haveli Katkoun have single, budget rooms? I have an Oz friend at the moment who is thinking of staying at least 2 weeks in Bundi shortly and he's considering that one.

Man, you went to Indore and didn't go to Mandu?????

Which is three, maybe 3 1/2 hours from Indore...That place surpases Bundi!

Mandu is the land that time forgot.

I found Bundi nice, but, it was hectic with all the fast scooters and motorcycles. Loved the lassis.

Looking for a moment of chill I had last year in Bundi, we have now visited Orccha. However it's far from it. The palaces are lovely but there's far more tourist hassle in Orccha (and a few Kashmiri shops already which is a bad sign itself....)

This is my first post on India Mike even though my travelling partner has posted many times. Yes, Bundi sure is beautiful, after the rain when the tank is partly filled with water, they have had to do this in the past by using tankers before some festivals. The place is not as busy as other cities in Rajasthan, but a pick of mine for a bit of respite, with a few guesthouses around the tank area.
The best lassi I have tasted is at Sathi Lassi in Bundi.

Erm - not sure if you're speaking to me here or someone else. I met a frog in the garden, some thugs (monkeys) on the roof, but no turtle or little girls...
