Hi cassiopeia
The region you have mentioned is not only haing quite few beaches but some of them are best beaches you will find in India. If you are of the type who is after natures bunty rather than watching buzz factor or crowd factor in beach, you'll have hell lot of fun here.
Some of the beaches are
Tarkarli - Near Malvan - lots of 1-2 room resorts - but fun nonetheless
Ganpatipule - Near Ratnagiri - A temple on the beach + some crowd on weekends
Guhagar - Near Chiplun, good secluded beach
Dapoli-Murud-Karde-Harnai - All have secluded unspoilt beaches that could be all yours to enjoy
To visit this places you have to have your own transport and a flair for adventure, and you'll be rewarded, thats for sure.
Try this sites or google a bit for moe info

Thanks a lot for your advises.
Sounds like perfekt paradise for me.
Do you know if there are also any cheap options to stay, or only expensive resorts.
And which beach do you prefer, there are so many?
Did you hear about Vengurla?

In Tarkarli there is an MTDC Resrot & they also have a house boat where you can stay & visit the back waters. Visit the maharashtratourism link given by anindya.

I have stayed in many a MTDC resorts as well as govt. rest houses while trekking & all of them have been found relatively clean. Some of the rest houses are expensive while others are relatively cheaper. Haven't found any coherence as to why this is so but being Indian 'whatever is' (sigh). There is also possibility of doing some sort of homestay but would've to ask around once reaching those regions. Konkan is known for its hospitality & if u're a non-veg the fish is famed/worth trying for. So anyway have lots of fun, if possible blog or post pictures of it. On second thoughts don't post pictures otherwise they'll also join the crowded places

I have also stayed at Ganpatipule MTDC Beach Resort. It was one of the most wonderful stay i ever had. However it was 5 - 6 years back. Now I have heard they have changed the resort.
But staying on the beach in the tent & then sitting besides the sea on a moonlit night was just wonderful experience. Also at that time Ganpatipule was very rarely visited by tourists, however there were lots of religious visitors at that time.

The last I was in Ganpatiphule it had transformed from being a religious place only to a second honey-moon spot for couples/married couples. Also people do the Ganpatiphule-Gokarna & the adjoining Andhra, Goa or Maharashtra border thing. It's quite an interesting bunch of people there. The scenery with the backwaters is simply enchanting. You're simply being transported into another world

hey guys,
thank you so much for your replies, I`m really looking forward to visiting the Konkan coast!
The page of maharastra tourism has good informations too. Still, I canīt decide which place is best Tarkarli, Ganpatiphule, Velneshwara or Vengurla, they all sound just perfect, but I have loads of time left and in the end we will decide spontanously.
There is one problem left, we`re going to visit India from July to September, do you think end of September itīs ok to visit this places or will we just be able to sit in our room and watch the monsun?!

Tarkarli is a lovely white beach near Malvan (Sindhudurg).
Another lesser known beach is Kunkeshwar, which is about 50 odd kms before Tarkarli. Dunno the exact location. Probably, you can reach a town "Kankavli" and ask there. The people there would definitely be able to guide you.
Kunkeshwar is actually a Shiva temple, along the coast. An absolute virgin beach for miles.
As someone said earlier, Konkan beaches are better than Goa, simply because they are unspoilt.
