Please suggest an itinerary for Gopalpur and around
Hi Friends,
I am planning for a Orissa trip with my family & friends( 7 member including two kids) coming Nov or Dec. Total duration 5 days.
Searched the forum but didn’t found any suitable thread. So writing my own. Requesting you to suggest me here.
I want to visit a see beach like Gopalpure ( Already been to Chandipure & Puri), Chilka and some other places like Konark. Please suggest some good itinerary from Kolkata.
Also suggest how to reach and where to stay. ( have good exparience with OTDC panthanivas)
Thanks and Regards,
Sujan Indu

You said that your planned target is Odisha and that you had already visited Chandipur & Puri. That leaves only Gopalpur-on-Sea, which, according to me, is the best among all beaches of Odisha. So, on this analogy, you destination this time should be Goapalpur-on-Sea and you can add Rambha on Chilka & Taptapani with it since you have 5 days in your hand. You have therefore rightly selected your destination.
Incidentally, you had mentioned that "Searched the forum but didn’t found any suitable thread. So writing my own. Requesting you to suggest me here." I'm sorry to say it is difficult to accept your submission as this Forum (Odisha) has lot of threads pertaining to Gopalpur on Sea & its adjoining areas. Did you use proper search criteria? Any how, let me help you with a few popular thread with its respective link here and here and here
There are many more, but I think the above 3 threads will suffice for the time being. Thanks. Happy journey!

Sujan, asishda is absolutely right, Gopalpur is an excellent beach.
Follow those useful threads and plan. There are some local spots as well as Rambha. There are sunrise ans sunset views to enjoy
With those, please have some leisure to stroll on the beach. Go eastwards.... there is a incomplete hotel complex, next is a little fisherman's village. In very early morning, they return from fishing... watch their team work to bring the boats on shore... their fighting against the mighty waves....
In the evening, go westwards. You'll find a narrow calm canal flows to unite with the sea, few little temple tops and their proud flags from far away. The place is not so clean, but try for a country boat ride there, it ferries with a rope tied on both end..... a little offbit experience to remember.
enjoy.

Good sujan,
But a minutes away from beach.
But a minutes away from beach.
@ Sujan
DJ has rightly pointed out that PANTHANIWAS, GOPALPUR is away from the sea, meaning you will not have any view of the sea from your room. If sea is your main attraction, I suggest you select some other place, like Hotel Song of the Sea, Hotel Holiday Home, or Hotel Sea Breeze etc. etc. All these Hotels are literally on the sea, you will be able to see, feel and hear the sea from any where if you stay in any of these Hotels. Disclaimer: The names are indicative, there are many more.

Asishda is right, sujan.
We stayed at 'Song of the Sea' . I loved it's position. At the end of the beach with sea facing rooms, open lawn to relax.
You can try - 9437127548. Confirm about sea-facing rooms at first floor. They have backside rooms too.
You can try for others though.

Friends just came back from our Gopalpure trip. Also visited Rambha, Mangalajodi etc. You can see many posts describing the beauty of this places, so here I am giving how to reach, along with the expanses. Team Size 7 ( 5+2). I have the phone numbers of the drivers. If anyone need it, mail me ‘sujan581@gmail. com‘.
Day 1:
Took train ( Channai Mail ) Howrah to Brahmapur . Rs. 230/head
Day 2:
Brahmapur to Gopalpure by Local Auto . 160 rs.
Stayed at OTDC Panthanivas.
It’s one km away from Gopalpure main Beach. But it has it’s own beach along with a garden. I love to stay away from crowd so I have chosen this place. Really cool place for people like me. Room rent 850*2=1700 + Tax + Food.
Day 3 & 4:
Gopalpure to Rambha by Ambassador. 800 rs.
Later I realise that I could have save 400 rs. If I use Auro. The rode condition is very good. Come to the main beach, lots of auto are there. Do bargain with them.
Stayed at OTDC Panthanivas. Here you don’t have much option. Rs 1450/day AC room.
Go for 1st floor non ac room. They are chip (850) & having best view of chilka. OTDC has it’s own boat service. Charges Rs 600/ hrs or they will show u three places in 1.5 hrs, will charge 900 rs. I felt their rate is very high so went to the jetty and enquire with the local fishermen. You won’t believe they are asking 2500 rs for 8 hrs
. I bargain and pay 2000 rs. This 8 hrs I have spited as per my convenience. Next day I took another co-visitor and manage it in 1800 rs. They also provide a guide name ‘Babu’. He has very good knowledge of chilka and birds. I would request, pay them some extra around 2000. As whatever they earn distribute it among all the fishermen. Really nice and friendly people. Their boats are not decorated like OTDC bust they are much stronger .
Day 5:
Rambha to Mangalajodi by auto. 800 rs.
Awesome place, best of the lot. Some friends already gave detail description of this place. The autowala ‘Ajit’ is also very good, took us 2 places on the way. He was telling about some nearby forest, where you can see many deer. 30 km from Rambha. Road condition is good.
Stayed at Mangalajodi ECO Tourism Cottege . RS 750/Day
We all enjoy this place the most. Around 100 types of birds we saw came from diff. Parts of world. They will provide a boat along with a guide and charges 750 for 3 hrs. Best time to visit Dec to Jan. We also clime a hill to see a cave.
Day 6:
Mangalajodi to Bhubaneswar by train. Rs 10/ head.
And then Trichi-Howrah SF exp. Rs 250/ head
