@djdslrtips....No ,I donot think Manglajodi will come on your way to Satpada. As Satpada is one of the gateways to Chilka, there is another one named Barkul...Manglajodi is 30km away from Barkul.
@Vaibhav....It's perfectly OK....
Here are some more photos taken at Manglajodi....

@ Maumi,

Wow! The yellow-headed bird is wonderful! I did not have the fortune to see any of those in my 3-hours of the boat trip. You are really lucky.

Keep on posting your beautiful pics!

We were in for a big surprise as we 3 familes reached the Mangalajodi Eco Tourism accommodation in the evening of 1-Oct-11. We were the 'FIRST' booking of their lifetime. They had rushed to get things ready before we arrive, but were clueless about how to wrap it up. We waited for quite a while in the open area chatting, while they toiled (& declined our help) to ensure we can eat & sleep well. While some of us were contemplating moving to a hotel & coming back in the morning, rest of us didn't have the heart once we saw how genuinely they wanted to make things work, despite the lack of any professional guidance. Much of the problem was that anything they needed required a 10km trip to nearby town... Anyway, once settled down, it was the most amazing time of our lives. My friends inaugurated their mega SLRs with mega zoom in a grand way on the boating trip next day morning. We saw countless birds and even water snakes (unfortunately dead) & eggs in the birds' nests.
The food & hospitality was just amazing & I realized that the genuine commitment of the people involved is far superior to the hotel management degrees in making this venture a success.
As a thank you note, I added details about the place & roads in G-Maps. Hope it makes easier for others to locate & plan.
BTW, this was one of the few places to see an unmanned railway crossing - something city folk should not miss

can the thread topic be fixed to have the correct name 'mangalajodi' instead? this will help appear in searches better.

I think the nearest railhead is Mukteshwarpuri though (if you use a passenger train to come from Bhubaneswar).

Reaching Balugaon from Kolkata and then further to Mukteswarpuri ph by passenger/DEMU train to reach Manglajodi. Stay at the huts/accomodation of Laksmi (09583803927) or of Santosh Mahopatro(08895763979). This is the primary itinerary for visiting Manglajodi as prepared from different blogs at Imike.
From there I wish to visit Vetnai- C0ntact person: Amulya Upadhyay(09437263033).
Can anybody Pl. inform whether any vehicle shall be available to go to Vetnai from Manglajodi as the entire stretch to the latter place is proposed to be covered by train; whether it shall be feasable to return to Balugaon or to proceed to Gopalpur/Bhubaneshwar for return journey to Kolkata?

Yes, but don't expect many migratory birds.

Chabolu

From your other thread I gathered you're going to focus on Konarak / Puri and BBSR. I'd recommend skipping mangalajodi as you wont see many birds (as paramiyer points out). It will eat up significant travel time (can take 4 hours + from puri to get there). Better stick to satpada end.

@ param - good to see you back

From Balugaon one can go by train to Mukteswarpuri ph to reach Manglajodi(38 kms); 6km further is Bhusandpur Rly station, the one nearest to Ma Ugratara temple.
