Hi
I am planning to go to Puri in between 20th Dec to 31 Dec 2010, is it going to be very crowded at Puri and also do I have to wait for 8-9 hours for darshan at Jagannath Puri Temple ? which I faced in Kedarnath in May 2010 ( peak season), I had to wait for 10 hours in queue at Kedarnath Temple.

Thanks
alok

Last time I had been to Puri was during the christmas holidays of 2004(dont remember the exact dates).

I donot remember any queues at all.

We went to give puja in the morning(aroung 7:30 to 8am) with our panda. The place was not crowded at all.

We did not go during the evening.

I think Dhrubtara was in Puri very recently. You can PM to get the latest or better still if he sees this and responds here.

Please remember, divine blessings are directly proportional to the effort made for darshan! No pain, no gain.

Yes,
Puri becomes crowded on year ends. Specifically on 1st of january and holidays of nearby dates. Local Devotees are the cause. But no such big queue in which you have to wait for 8-10 hours. It may be just 30 min or 1 hr. I hope. Avoid 25th Dec., 1st Jan, holidays and other Hindu festive days if you want a comfortable darshan.
After all it is winter!!!
