Which Platforms in Mumbai CSTM ? From 0112 to 7617

Namaste Train Gurus,

I need your help on a tough one.
Would you know :
1. At which platform train 0112 (Konkan Kanya Exp.,MAO - CSTM) arrives in Mumbai ?
2. From which platform train 7617 (Tapovan Exp., CSTM - AWB) departs from Mumbai ?
3. How distant are those platforms ?

Here's the idea :
Train from Margao arrives at 5:33 AM. Train to Aurangabad departs at 6:10.
If the train from Margao is perfectly on time, as it has been for the past few days apparently, I would like to try and catch the 7617 to Aurangabad.
I know it's an extremely close call. Don't worry, I'm booked on another train to AWB a few hours later.
Still I would find it fun (and convenient) to try and catch the 7617. If I knew what platform to look for, and how distant they are from one another, I would probably save precious minutes.

I guess this is a lot to ask, but knowing how amazing you people are, I thought I'd try my luck all the same. Many thanks for your answers.

Train 0112 arrives at Thane at 04:53 then Dadar at 05:17. (should be platform 15 at CST)

Train 7617 (should be platform 12 at CST) also departs Dadar at 06:25 then Thane at 06:50.

Amazing. I don't know of any website, on any country, in any language, that can provide such a level of detail - and support for fellow travellers.

If I read you well, Steven, then it's wise for me to get off at Thane or Dadar (providing 0112 is on time) to get ample time for the connexion. Also probably smaller stations, less platforms to roam. Excellent ! Many thanks for taking the trouble to post, as I know you are on the road now. Hope you're having a great trip !

Crap trip, India amazing as always, but missing family very much.

See how your train is doing timewise, but the approach to Dadar and CST can be slow, if it were me travelling, I'd get off at Thane, I'd rather have a good look around thane station than take the chance of missing the connectiong train.

Thanks much. Will definitely get off at Thane. This makes a huge difference for me, getting to AWB at 4 PM as opposed to midnight...

Do you think there's any chance of me finding someone sitting in my CC seat, considering I won't be occupying it between CST and Thane ?

Very sorry to hear about your trip. I read about your cell phone problem, that must not have helped the family connexion one bit. Hope your spirits get better soon.

Take care,

No one will take your seat. Many boarders from Thane... you are not alone here.

Happy travels

If your ticket shows boarding from CST and you did not board at CST, as a rule, the Train Conductor can allocate the seat to some prospective passenger. However, in reality, the Train Conductor will allocate vacant seats/berths only after Thane in Konkan Railway lines.

Big thanks to all who helped me on this.
Reporting back to say that after travelling 3,076 km by train, not to mention numerous buses and rickshaws, in two weeks, I was to exhausted to continue on to Aurangabad. So I never made that connexion. I'm a bit disappointed myself, would have loved to visit the caves and to make that train connexion, but I had planned too much into that trip. I will however go there next year, so I'm saving your precious info until then.
Thanks again.

You done the right thing.

Sometimes tourists find it hard to admit to themselves that they're trying to fit in too much and carry on with their plans, I think if you're exhausted, it's difficult to enjoy anywhere and any hassles will seem multiplied.

Glad you enjoyed your trip.

Myself, I'm now home and my daughter was speaking to me after only one day (I thought she'd take at least 3), but she has grown SOOOO much in 5 weeks and I've missed some great times.

Thanks Steven,

Glad to know you're back home for some great family time.

I had a lot of fun with my train trips this time around, and that's largely thanks to the great advice you posted on IM, along with other respected train gurus.

You're right, I would have needed an extra week to enjoy Ajanta and Ellora. Long train hours, long bus and rickshaw rides in between trains. Also I feared my memories of the caves would blur into those of Hampi, Belur and Halebid. The caves will always be there.

Take care,
