Where should I stay in Mumbai?

I am confused as to where I should stay in Mumbai. I am looking at the Park Plaza in North Mumbai - is that too far away from the attractions? What part of Mumbai should I stay in? The address is 169, AAREY MILK COLONY
GOREGAON, MUMBAI 400065, IN - it says that it is near the central business district of North Mumbai. Any suggestions?

whoa that is too far away.

most of the tourist destination are in mumbai city so thats where you should be. Try the three stars in mumbai city like the abassador, marine plaza, intercontinental etc. the pincode should be something like 400005/ 400020

do you want to be near the business area in north mumbai. Then the best option for you is to stay near the international airport, try hotels like, 5* leela kimpenski, Sheraton, hyaat. if you are looking for lower price range then you could also try Lotus suites, Mirador etc.

hope this is of help

you want to look for hotels located in
Colaba, Churchgate, Nariman Point, Cuffe Parade, Grant Road, Bombay Central Marine Lines, Marine Drive.

Where you are looking now is like practically as far away as possible you can get from anything resembling an attraction.

South Bombay

Look at a map of Bombay. It can easily take an hour just to get from Colaba to Bandra. I don't even want to know where Goregaon is but it can't be anything good.

My recommendation for Bombay, either spend a little more and stay in a place like the Strand Hotel, otherwise there are cheaper places near Kemps Corner.

An Eicher map is a good investment. Unfortunately a cousin stole mine on my last trip there.

well its not like you can tell how long it takes by looking at a map. it takes me twelve mins if i walk to work and 25 if i drive.

Kemps Corner is a great location but i would still stick to Colaba coz you will find yourself invariably travelling around it anyway.

Staying in Mumbai

Wow, you guys are great!!! I cancelled that hotel reservation . Where is Mumbai City - I have a map - but I do not see it. I think I should stay somewhere around near Mumbai Central? I have a pretty good budget and I want a nice hotel no less than 3 stars - maybe 4 stars.

Hotels in Mumbai

My budget is about $200 a night - I do not want to go more than than. There will be two of us travelling. Would like a fun hotel, near restaurants, shops, things to do and public transportation.

Thanks,

Again

well in that case i would recommend the following

The Hilton
The Oberoi Towers
The Marine Plaza
The Intercontinental
The President
The Gordon House Hotel
The Ambassador
these are all within a half mile stretch of Marine Drive except for the last two which are a little further inwards.
You should be about 10 min ride or 15-20 min walk from theatres, restaurants, and about a street crossing away from the Marine Drive Promenade. They all have great restuarants within as well. I think all of them are 5 stars cept for Gordon House which i think is a 3 or 4.

I didnt mention the Taj because the tariff is usually around $275 and above.
I think with most of these you would get good rates (cept for Marine Plaza which is a lot more expensive)
I would recommend the Hilton because it has a great view and some good restaurants and would fit the budget as well.

I have booked a few guests at the Gordon House and they love the rooms and service but it lacks a view.
