Rain Starts generally in first or second week of June.
First week of May will be very hot.

Depends on your tolerance. It may be like an oven. A lot depends on the weather gods..

It will certainly be very hot in the region but you can always take a flight to Aurangabad and use an AC vehicle to take you to Ajanta and Ellora. Once there it may not be too bad if you have a nice big floppy hat. A visit to the Daulatabad fort, also in the region, may be unbearably hot unless you do it early in the morning or towards sunset. And if you are extending your trip to the Lonar crater, it is definitely a good idea to start your descent into the crater at the crack of dawn, and begin your ascent after 4pm. If you have not seen these places and are not coming to India again in the near future, go ahead, it wont be that bad.

Why dont you book the Tapovan express which leaves Mumbai at 6am, I think. http://indianrailways.gov.in/ will give you more details about the trains. Also check cheap flights at cleartrip.com; ezeego1.com; makemytrip.com etc.

Anyway, reaching Aurangabad at 3 am should not be a problem, but its a good idea to ask your hotel to arrange a pick up at that unearthly hour.

Try the train that leaves Dadar at midnight and reaches early morning at around 7am.

Cheers,
Aadil.
