Western Supermarket? South Bombay

Hey everyone!

I'm moving into an apartment in Worli pretty soon after a long drawn out stay in a hotel. Does anyone know of a good western style supermarket in that area. A place that has quality meat (I know its not Indian to eat beef but, hell, I like it) would be much appreciated.

Worli is not that far away from Lower Parel, and Phoenix Mills has a Big Bazaar. Ideally, Atria Mall in Worli could potentially have had one. But they don't.

Yes, I tried the batting machine. The ball comes in at 120 kmph, which is a lot faster than it looks on TV. It was good fun though.

You don't even get chicken, mutton, prawns etc. at big bazaar/food bazaar, Phoenix Mills.

This has been my struggle for a long time to even get such stuff.

However, there is a shop near shivaji park that you might like to explore.

Most supermarkets will be vegetarian - but Foodland have 'meat shops' off the main sales area.

Big Bazaar tends to look like it's been hit by a bomb - but the prices are good.

Sahakari Bhandar in Matunga is good - but it's all veggie.

There will be new Reliance Fresh stores opening in Tardeo and Grant Road in July - they will be good after the initial opening rush dies down a bit.

To get something very close to a Western style supermarket you could head North to Hypercity and Le Marche in Malad West. They both have meat/fish shops off the main sales area. For good prices and massive range head to Spencers in In Orbit Mall ... standards not as good as Hypercity or Le Marche but they have most of what you'll need.

Supermarket Anorak or what!

The Sahakari Bhandar you referred to in Matunga is owned by Reliance Fresh.

As regards meat, my favourite up to know is more on the South: Cafe Ridge, small shop on Malabar Hill, with all-imported stuff. You can even get beef on Fridays but I suggest you pre-order as they only have a couple of pounds every time.

le Marche is about 3 km South of Hypercity - set back on the right hand side when heading away from Hypercity towards central Andheri.
