western clothes in mumbai

Hi all,

Sadly its getting time to leave India. However, after four months riding the rails and sweating it out in the yoga hut, all I've got left for clothes is some seriously faded fishermen pants, three or four smelly t-shirts and three pairs white underwear that turned pink in the wash. So I need clothes and so does my girlfriend. Can anybody recommend a good one-stop-shop for jeans, t-shirts, socks, and so on that will do me well for the Spanish winter? Is Crossroads good, or is there somewhere cheaper? Cheers,

-jon

Mumbai is full (in Indian terms) of shopping places. I would recommend buying from those large malls ... though it will cost more (again in Indian terms) but it is less likely that you get ripped off and the quality of merchandise there is also better than the street marts. And it may still cost less than if you had bought the similar stuff from 'Uniqlo' in Japan.

Try "Fashion Street" between Metro theatre 7 Flora Fountain in South Mumbai. This is cluttered with roadside shops offering you decent T-shirts and jeans ranging from Rs 75 - 250; value for money for back packers.

Yup, Crossroads has a few shops with "youth fashion"... bought a pair of Puma sneakers there that cost 50 euros... 100 euros back home!! Bargain. Jeans and such also available.

Fashion street sells cheaper stuff but if you want quality, go for the proper shops. There are some on Colaba Causeway as well, if you happen to be staying near there.

Also try Phoenix Mills - its a largeish shopping mall roughly 15min from Colaba area.
