weekend excursion: september 25th - 27th, 2009

Hi guys,

I just moved to Navi mumbai about a week ago. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions of things I can do here/places to go to (whether it be a cool coffee shop, or a great restaurant).

Next week is a long weekend for me (i'm generally slaving away at work), I want to do a 3-day excursion somewhere close by. Any suggestions? I'm also hoping to find a travel buddy:

***I'm a 21yr old female from Canada. Looking to see some amazing sights with someone who is outgoing, versatile and adventurous.

Thanks, I will take all the advice I can get.

If you do not find suitable company, you can check the Mid Day listings, sometimes they advertise hiking / trekking groups to nearby places which you can join if interested for a small fee.

You can check Inorbit Mall near Vashi Railway Station.

For weekend trip you can go to Matheran, Shrivardhan / Harihareshwar, Kolad.

It would be advisable to book your accommodation as it is a long weekend.

Hey,

I live in the central part of Mumbai near Marine Drive. I work for Accenture. If you want to a travel partner for weekends I am in. There are many hill stations that you can visit during weekends. My email is vickyzmail2005@yahoo.co.in. Take care

The Mid Day is a daily afternoon paper available in Mumbai [and in Navi Mumbai] and in other cities. Ask your newspaper vendor to deliver it to you, or buy it from any street corner or the vendors at most traffic lights.

You can also buy Time Out Mumbai magazine which also lists weekend trips and what not.

Well there are a lot of options around Navi Mumbai, some are
1. Karnala bird sanctuary
2. Kashid beach
3. Murud Harnai
4. If you are willing to stretch a bit even Ganpatiphule

Hi Dear,

New Mumbai, has lots of places to hang on, you can go to malls, Cafe cofee Day etc. For this long weekend, you can try goa, Matheran, Kasid Murud Janjeera etc. When you are from Canada, sorry to say there are some temples which dont allow Non-Hindus inside the temple. so when choosing a place you can keep that in mind. Secondly I ll advice, take those ppls with you whom you know, else it may be a trouble. (Not all are bad). By the way wish you a very happy long weekend.

Rgds

theres not too much to do in navi mumbai. YOu feel so far from the real mumbai. get on a train to colaba or anywhere south - that would be an excursion in itself. You could a day trip to elephanta.. if you are into wines, go visit sula vines near nasik.. you can do wine tasting, stay overnight , and maybe also go to bhandardara which is a hill station nearby..

Thanks for all the suggestions. I really appreciate it. I am actually going to Elephanta island tomorrow. It required the least amount of planning
