Three Days in Bombay
Hello there IM'ers. I really feel like I'm one of you now having been here for three days. I'm sorry this is going to be a very short message for now because I have to get back out there to the teeming masses and the monsoons and all.
I'll write more soon but the bottom line is this: I LOVE INDIA. I love everything about it. Even the things I thought I wouldn't like. Don't you believe for a moment that the monsoon season in Bombay is to be avoided, the only thing you should avoid is avoiding them. I'm having the time of my life and had some amazing experiences I'll soon share with you all. This was a very, very good idea. More later. Yippee. ![]() |

Oh, Ken, how could you! Now you've got my juices flowing.... that's exactly how I felt after I'd had three days in Mumbai, but that was last year.... and now you're there and I'm here! You're so lucky that I can't stand it!
No need to tell you to continue having a great time... I'd say we can take that for granted, as you have brought the two most important things (even more than the passport and the plastic card) with you..... an open mind and the right attitude. Strength to your arm! |

Sorry about that posting you guys. Kind of thoughtless of me to rub it in like that. So consider this a warning to those of you who can't deal with my being here an you not. Here's the first email I sent home to my list of folks that wanted me to keep in touch.
Hello Everyone, Ken here, checking in from Bombay, India. Wow. Ok, how's it going? So far, I LOVE INDIA. I JUST LOVE IT. Three days so far and so much has happened that I can't really tell it all or I'd be on this damn computer all evening and I don't intend to do that with the seething masses waiting for my return. I LOVE the people, the pollution, the garbage, the humidity, the crazy cab drivers with the death defying moves and the continuous horn honking. I even love the monsoons. We had a dilly last night. I've met some amazing people and done some incredible things all in the first three days. Met a Bollywood screenwriter who invited me over to his place for chai. Was taken to see the sister and son of I AM THAT's author Nisargadatta Maharesh by a beautiful young Indian girl. And I visit my guru, Ramesh every morning at 9 till 11. Today had lunch and toured around with a handsome young brit (25)and his lovely Zimbabwe girlfriend who know Bombay. On Wednesday we're going to take the train north together. To where Im not quite sure yet. But I'm boring you. And I need to get back out there. I'll write more soon, maybe tomorrow. There's so much to tell but the main thing is I LOVE INDIA. This was a very, very good idea ![]() |

Ken,
Keep rubbing it in mate !! Your enthusiasm and obvious wonderment is leaping off the screen as I read your posts. Please keep them coming though I understand you wanting to be out amongst it and not wasting valuable experience time writing posts. When you get home have a read of "Shantaram" by Gregory David Roberts for a unique insight into Mumbai. There's a great thread on IM about this book as well. |
