We had a great time out yesterday evening even though some of the expected members did not turn up due to unforeseen circumstances, but then yours truly was there as well as a few others who came a bit late. We (Aadil, Vibhu, Paul, Amol and Patrick) had a lovely time eating at two different places (Cafe Mysore and Madras Cafe nearby) before going on a book hunting spree in the second hand book shops nearby. A great evening out before we parted company and went our different ways!!!
A link to the pictures that Paul took with his cellular phone camera in the Madras Cafe are posted out here: http://www.dzineshastra.com/cs/meetup.htm Cheers, Aadil.

Yes, that's me with the beard and you can see my picture on my profile page much more clearly too!!! We had Udundu dosa, Neer Dosa and Pesserette dosa of which you see the Neer dosa on Patrick's plate. The other two are on the picture with the two dosas together. Hope that helps. The other guys sitting next to me on the left is Amol (amyl) and opposite me is Vibhu and on the other table is Paul (the guy who took the pictures) and the westerner (Patrick from Germany). Sorry there are no pictures of the Cafe Mysore (idli in jackfruit leaves and drinks) as Paul's camera battery was running low so no pictures till we charged it up at the other restaurant!!! Hope this helps.
Cheers, Aadil. |

I am happy and glad that youll made it and enjoyed the food
hi,
I am really happy that youll made it and enjoyed the food at the cafe mysore and cafe madras. I was unable to come as I was down with chicken pox( yeah adults also get it sometimes, or may be I have never grown up) I am glad about this bonding which has developed between us travel lovers and these regular meetings kind of strengthens it. I would invite your suggestions now for the next month IM/ CS mumbai meet and we should tentatively keep it either on 6th or the 13th based on the majority view. My personal favourate would be to meet up at SAMOVAR at JEHANGIR ART GALLERY or KYANI BAKERY opp METRO (yummy pattice, rolls, mava cakes, water melon juice and the half fried omelete and brun, the genuine irani joint feel, which is old bombay's charm) TAKE A TOSS AND YOULL DECIDE THE BALLS IN YOUR COURT ANIL |

ok i see that i was late in posting what all we ate but .... this dosent gove Adil the right to hijack what i intended to do.....anyway, once again ill enumerate the stuff we had that day:
Cafe Mysore: - Aamras ( Mango juice with milk in it....first of the season, usually made with Alphonso and Payri mango) - Kesari shikanji ( Saffron flavoured sweet lemon water) - Paul & Patrick took instant liking to it. - South Indian Filter Coffee ( best in the town and made with Buffalo milk only.......may i remind all it is not any simple bastardized version of coffee which we call instant coffee and are more used to but authentic South Indian filter coffee- the real thing) - Khotu ( Udupi special - Its a sort of idli steamed in Jackfruit leaves) After trying these stuff we thought of carrying our bums to next dorr - Cafe Madras - renowned for its dosas. Cafe Madras- - Neer dosa - now this is a dosa in whose batter normal water is not used instead coconut water is used and while frying it on the pan green coconuts kerenel ( which at that stage is more of a pulp) is applied on one side. - Ullundu Dosa - a thick dosa, made of shelled urad dal ( urad pulse) and rice batter, fermented a little bit longer than normal. - Pasarettu - again a thick dosa made of unshelled moong dal and rice batter and has flling of chopped fried onions. with all these dosas we had Mulgapodhi - a mixture of dried and roasted and grounded coarse chilli powder and gram with butter on it. So this was the vivid description of all we had.......any questions???? |

telling all the good places in mumbai one shud try out gustatory abilities on.....great knowledge that is and for a not-at-all-fond-of-food-n-drinks-except-smirnoff dude like me and who does not even know that we need to perforator to make a "chikari" coffe that is awesome ![]() but yes i really liked neer dosa... will certainly have more when i am around that area. well cyber hippie my good friend is leaving holland once and for all and is flying to mumbai in a matter of 10 days so u can hook up with him to try those dosas .. do not wait for miracles.. invent it! ![]() "The Best way 2 predict the future is 2 invent it." -- Alan kay have a great week ahead guys! cheers, Amyl
