some questions...

HI travelling to Mumbai for the first time, 5 adults and 2 children. Will be on a package to Goa from London, but wanna spend a few days in Mumbai.

1) which area to stay in ....current thinking is Colaba as i want somewhere touristy

2) hotels I have in mind include Sea Palace, Shellys and West End...will I be able to book when I get there or are they likely to be full that time of year.

3) Best place for shopping to buy Panjabi suits ?

4) Any must do's or must see's whilst we're there ( 3 days)

5) Do they do tours around wankhede stadium ?

Thanks

Answers to Ur questions

1) Colaba is a Good place to Stay

2) There is a likelihood of Hotels being full, since Diwali is round the corner

3) Colaba isnt the nicest of place shopping for Punjabi suits, try the market around Hindmata Theater (Parel)

4) Try a Ferry to Nearby Elephanta Caves, A trip down to Chor Bazaar for some cheap Antique stuffs (But be careful),

5) No there is no tour around wankhede stadium, and BTW wankhede Stadium is Just 5 minutes drive from Colaba, if anyone tells U they do a tour around wankhede stadium, they r fleecing U.

I am not aware of any formal tours but if you go there on a normal working day I am sure you can talk somone into showing you or letting you have a look around. Its a quick 5 mins drive from Colaba so you will not have to go out of the way too - just turn up there and ask at the reception counter.

For Elephanta Caves confirm that they are open on the day when you go there. I got caught out as the bloody ferry operators dont warn you. From what I remember its shut on Monday but I could be wrong so double check.

The sea can be quite choppy too but should be fine at this time of the year. If any of the family is ultra sensitive and prone to sea sickness then the ferry ride is sure to "churn" things up.
