Hi Indiatake1, I have the same situation coming up, and I found a web site called 'Budget Traveller's Guide to Sleeping in Airports' , and according to them there is a sleeping room in the Mumbai airport, near the IndiaAir gates. Good luck.

Angry NO "sleeping rooms" at BOM

Since the renovation of the Mumbai airport started, the "retiring rooms" have been closed and there are no rooms at the airport for long layovers. It's also complete chaos these days (I was there 10 days ago--these are current facts) and would be hard to get any sleep on the few available chairs or even "hang out". Sorry for the bad news.

Check

www.csia.in
http://www.toandfromtheairport.com/mumbai.html
and the mentioned http://www.sleepinginairports.net/asia/bombay.htm ,

And bear in mind none of these will necessarily be up-to-date.

It was reported on the LP site that security are now actively discouraging people from sleeping in the arrivals lounge. They would prefer that you move on.

Unfortunately, many of the hotels that surround the airport district list their tariffs in US$ not rupees. It's not going to be a cheap option to leave the airport but by the same token, you'll probably get a much better nights sleep & return rested for the next mornings flight.

Cheers
