hi everyone,
sorry for yet another budget accommodation thread...but my criteria is a bit easier than others...i don't mind staying in the suburbs--just need to be able to access the center by metro and take an (relatively) inexpensive taxi at night to and from the nightlife areas.

could you guys advise me on this?

by the way, this is my first trip to india...so apologies for my lack of expertise. i searched old threads on the topic and have learned that:

a) Mumbai is expensive
b) other than lawrence and salvation army, there is no budget accommodation in the city center

...i'll look into lawrence, but a girl i'm currently traveling with was just at salvation army last week and said there were bed bugs so that's a big no-go for me.

thanks!

The suburbs are no less expensive than the city though...
For 800 bucks theres a guest house at the marol military road junction... but its very very small... so no windows etc.. but its got an attached bathroom... Marol is 20 mins away from the nearest railway station Andheri(e) though there are plenty of buses around... let me know if youre interested and I'll try getting you contacts at this guest house

hey all,
at the 11th hour i got a call from a friend of a friend who offered to let me crash with her for free. phew!

thanks for the help though...next step--looking for dining and going out buddies here. i made plans with a traveler for tonight but she had to flake so if anyone's up for to eat some maharashtran, parsi or bengali food tonight, or any night, hit me up:
