Reaching bandra kurla complex from chembur near amarmahal in mumbai at 7:30am

How can I reach

Bandra Kurla Complex
Bandra East, Mumbai 400051

from

Amarmahal, near chembur railway station, chembur east, Mumbai

at 7:30am on a Friday morning. I know trains will be jam-packed but what would be an advisable route?

Is going from Chembur to Ghatkopar station by bus, then Ghatkopar to Dadar Central, then going to Dadar western,
then taking a train to Bandra an option?
Or, are there quicker routes as the above path would take an hour even if I take a fast local? I understand boarding any local during morning hours would be very difficult indeed.

I realize BEST buses are an option but they are likely to get stuck in morning traffic.

A) Take an auto from Amar Mahal
B) Take a train to Kurla and then bus / auto / taxi from Kurla
Kedar Janani Devasthan, Mt Abu - Udaipur, Bharatpur, Agra, Gwalior, Orchha, Jhansi

true freedom is in a tattered lungi

Thanks aarosh,

Auto from Amarmahal is likely to get stuck in the morning traffic.

Train to Kurla, then Kurla to Bandra is an option. From bandra train station, I can get an auto to the Bandra Kurla complex

I appreciate your advice and time.

There is no train from Kurla to Bandra. You will have to change trains at Wadala on Harbor line or Dadar on Main line and then change to Western Line in Dadar.

Thanks aarosh,

Which one do you think would be quicker? Wadala as it involves less transfers or Dadar? I realize boarding any train during peak morning hours is a challenge indeed.

BKC is closer to Kurla station and Bandra station. If you do not want to travel by auto, then change trains at Wadala.

Thanks, I appreciate your assistance and time.

If I choose auto, from Kurla, how much would the fare approximately cost?

I realize from Bandra station, the auto fare to BKC would be 20-25rs

assuming you need to reach by 7:30am, i would suggest leaving by 7:00am (or a bit earlier) & taking an auto from chembur to bkc (distance would be 8-10km). all other options are wasting your time & energy (though might save money to some extent).
travelling by local train towards the city during weekday mornings is not the most suitable option for new comers...

Thanks, I thought distance by auto would be longer and autos would get stuck in morning traffic? If it is 8-10 km, I imagine cost would be 100rs

Thanks, I thought of train because I hear roads are crowded and face frequent traffic jams in morning so may not reach in time.

Thanks a lot for your constant support and advice.
The jam you are likely to face is usually at Sion Flyover. Having an Auto is an advantage because they can take some of the alternate routes through narrow roads that Taxis cannot. Also, it is quite unlikely (not impossible though) to be stuck in a jam at 7-7:30 am - they usually start 8:30am onwards...

On hindsight, I recall that Autos are restricted to enter some parts of greater mumbai - sion in central route & bandra in western route are the cut-offs. In that case, it might be a better option to take an auto to Kurla (East), cross the foot overbrigde to Kurla (West), take an auto or cab to BKC from there - might be suitable from time/money perspective.

Thanks, I plan to leave at 6:30am from Amarmahal, Chembur to avoid traffic.

How much would be auto fare approximately from Chembur, Amarmahal to Kurla(east), then from Kurla(west) to BKC?

Also, by Kurla(east) you mean the Kurla(east) train station or some other landmark?

Thanks for your suggestions and time

6:30 might be an overkill, but if you are a first timer in mumbai, i can understand. in general, the traffic you'll experience is mostly mid-way between the best & the worst you hear about mumbai...

i don't know about amarmahal's location, but i assume it should be close to chembur stn. from chembur stn to kurla stn (east), it is around 3-3.5 km, so auto fare should be around 35-40.
then you cross the pedestrian overbridge here for about 200m to reach kurla stn (west) - make sure you don't take the one going into the platforms, but the one on right.
from kurla stn (west) to BKC might be around 5-6km depending on your specific destination in BKC, so auto fare should be around 50-60, taxi might be 80-90.
kurla (east) & kurla (west) are the areas of kurla to the east & west of the stn - a typical lingo used in mumbai...

Thanks, I realize like any big city traffic is bound to be an issue in Mumbai. The crowd to board a train even at 5am is staggering.

I took the train from Chembur to Kurla, then a bus from Kurla to Bandra Kurla Complex(BKC). My destination was Bandra Telephone exchange so it was about 15mins via bus. I started at 6:30am so was able to get in the train and also get a seat in the bus to BKC.

I would advise any newcomer in Mumbai to start as early as possible for their destination, if traveling via train, to avoid the rush in train.
