I only saw one. On the left, maybe one or two booths away from the door. The only way I can describe it is there's a hole in the window behind it. For those people who miss it and end up outside - they can still buy a ticket through the hole in the glass, because they won't let you back in the terminal.

My data point is kind of old.... For non 'elite' rewards (a.k.a non eligible for complementary) BOM International to JWM Juhu was about 1000Rs; Cool Cab pre-paid was Rs 220.

Don't pay more than Rs. 100 in any case.

maximum passengers in a pre-paid taxi
The pre-paid taxi at the Mumbai international airport. Do they come in difference size? We have 4 small size ladies + 4 big luggages. Can we fit into one taxi? and how much is the taxi fare to Juhu? or is it better to pre-book a van? Someone quote me Rs800 + parking charges as per actual for AC Tavera from Mumbai international airport to Juhu. Please suggest which way to go.

Rs. 800 for Airport - Juhu is a loot.
I think, you will fit in a taxi. May get a quote from kedarkasar @ gmail.com. Or may checkout www.megacabs.com or www.merucabs.com |

What a crazy long thread. I can't read all this. I see it was 350r for prepaid in 2005. I guess pre-paid counter is still there though i think the airport has been revamped so its probably located somewhere else. hmm I guess I'm just adding a post to make this very long thread unnecessarily longer. It probably needs serious editing. nevermind.

The local black yellow taxi's generally try to fool the foreigners. So beware! It's avoidable if you have a handheld gps system! 1600 is very over-hyped! Even the northen end of the city would not charge more than 400 from airport! Best solution is, Book a MERU CAB, it's Ac pvt car service, google it you'll get more details. And the good part is that, they charge according to the distance covered! And not the time you spent in cab! So no worries for traffic! You won't be charged for waiting for traffic!!

Are the pre-paid taxis pretty reliable as far as actually getting you to the destination you ask for? I know many taxi drivers in India have a penchant for taking you to a hotel/business that they are paid to take you to by the owner, relying on the fact that you won't know your way around well enough to know where they're actually taking you.

When you ask for the prepaid taxi they will ask you the destination where you mention the name of the hotel you wish to stay at and the address so you will be taken to that area and the driver has to take you to the location you asked for. If there is any problem with the driver you can complain on the telephone number given on the cash receipt and they will take action against the taxi driver. Sometimes drivers are known to tell clients that the hotel they wish to go to has shut down or burned down or crashed or some such strange excuse to take you to another hotel where they are likely to get a huge commission!!! So just tell the driver that you need to go there anyway or you will complain to the police about his cheating ways.
Cheers, Aadil.
