paying guest accomodation

Hi,
i'm going to be in Mumbai from mid-Dec 2006 until mid-Feb 2006 [2 months] and was looking for a room around the Juhu / Andheri / Santacruz / Bandra areas....
I'd be happy with a hotel that was less the Rs300 per day, or paying guest accomodation... anyone able to help?

also. does anyone know if paying guest accomodation is usually safe?

thanks in advance

I came across a couple of "paying guest" agents on the following web-site:

http://mumbai.kijiji.in/

This website advertises to say its free, for both "buyer" and "seller".

I did talk to "Mohapatra" (see below) on the phone, sounded OK but thats all I know about this person. I called to find out if there was anyone at the other end. He was willing to help with finding a place from 2500 per month up..

Hm... just off the top of my head, having looked at quite a few PG accomodations in Mumbai, the prices don't seem right. 2.500 for Marine Lines and 4000 for Colaba - it's going to be VERY basic. can you report back after you've had a look at some of these?

The prices I've come across are 12,000 for a tiny room and bathroom with indpendent entrance at Churchgate, 12,000 for a decent sized room with bathroom but without indpendent entrance at Breach Candy, the same for about 9000 at Worli, and it gets cheaper as you go north.

I am looking for somewhere in Malad, Versova, Andheri area.........for two months only (Nov- Dec), will be working in this area....

I am thinking of 1 BHK, independent entrance, around 8000 per month. I wonder how quickly the agents can find something?

Just call them and they can usually show you something immediately - while the PG rooms are off the market within a few days, the brokers always have a list of what is available at the moment.
