Outlet of western fashion brands

Hi guys

Could anyone tell me where to find a good factory outlet of clothes made for western markets? I've heard that in Mumbai there should be Outlet-stores where they sell brands like Diesel, Nike, Pepe Jeans etc for REALLY cheap price.

thanks already

I've heard there's a street in chor bazaar that sells knockoffs and faulty cast-off merchandise. Is that what you mean? Be aware that when they say knockoffs they mean Knock Offs -- things will look nothing like the real items sold by that particular brand, and often the logo is different or the name is misspelled. Didn't personally go looking for flawed stuff but I would guess that we're talking about serious problems like stains, shoes without mates, pants with two different inseam lengths.

I don't think it's possible to get the real thing any cheaper in India than it is at home - western brands I saw in stores had virtually the same prices as their counterparts back home.

I don't know what prices are like in Finland - but here things are pretty expensive. In India we bought Levis for $40 - they are about $120-140 here, from the Levis store. Converse sneakers and hi-tops for $25 - they are about $90 here.

We also saw Diesel etc for prices much cheaper than here .. this was all in various shops we saw in malls or the street.. just like the shops here really - selling western style stuff. It was so cheap for us we didn't feel we needed to go looking for outlet style 2nds stores!!!! We were also getting a good exchange rate so that helped.

Books were also so cheap in India compared to here where they are about $25-$30 for a paperback. New releases in India were about 6.00 or less - fantastic.. I just wish I could have brought back a bagful but we were overweight as it was.

OK, I'm officially canceling any plans I ever had to move to Australia. Everything I like is apparently very, very expensive!

cheap price. i dont know. a few people sell rejects somewhere or the other from some of the brands, saw a hoarding once at Kemps Corner.

You could also try the following and see if they have a sale

Thanks at Worli

You can always send books by Bookpost which is much cheaper than other postal rates. You will have to pack them in cloth stitched around the books and sealed before you post it at any of the head post offices for faster delivery. You could also consider sealing the books with a plastic covering before stitching it with the cloth cover. The rates are very minimal compared to any other means of posting or carrying them with you. Most people who have used this service have got their books intact and also very much in time too. It takes about a month or two at the most but then it is so cheap that you will not bother about how late it arrives.

Cheers,
Aadil.

Actually I meant Factory Outlet-stores, where they sell top quality stuff, but they can be from previous season or the prices are some other reason 15%-75% cheaper than in the "normal diesel/Nike stores" in Mumbai.

"chor bazaar that sells knockoffs and faulty cast-off merchandise" : This sounds also interesting! You don't happen to have any more detailed information about this place/location?

What is your recommendation in Southern Mumbai for this kind of fashion shopping? Is there some super-duper department store or is there a whole street full of this kind of stores?

Would be clearer if you mention "factory outlet" than outlet if ever asking for directions. In Delhi atleast an outlet/showroom is one and the same thing...

Wow! Is that american dollars you are quoting? If so, then it is really cheap In Finland you have to pay 100€(150$) for the pair of Levis jeans!

i suspect kristin means australian dollars (although having spoken for someone else i'm sure to be wrong ). however, at the moment the australian dollar is worth almost as much as the us dollar so 40AUD would not be much less in US dollars.

What is a showroom and where are they?

Sorry for all the stupid questions, but these are all very important for a shop-a-holic like me

Showrooms are fullprice shops selling only that particular brand.
you will get levis, nike, reebok, addidas, bennetton, pepe and other internation brand showrooms in all major shopping districts in any metro city in India.
In Mumbai you can visit the linking road in Bandra(west). It will have lots of such shops.

another place that I prefer shopping is the Lower Parel area / Parel East just ahead of the ITC Grand Central Hotel. You will find nuemrous factory outlets like adidas, Pepe jeans, Samsonite etc. You can easily get a flat discount of 30-40 % compared to the malls. My best denim buy a year or so back was for 800 Rs..(20 USD)

Goa has them. There's factory stores for Levi's, Nike, Addidas, Dockers and Lacoste that I know of. Try in Margao opposite Hari Mandir or in Panaji on M.G. Road.
