Oriental Residency vs Ramee Khar
Has anyone stayed in The Oriental Residency (Bandra/Khar) or the Ramee Guestline,Khar?
We are looking for hotel options in the Bandra/Khar area and have found these 2 places but not sure which one is better. Mainly, we want a hotel in a nice area, within close proximity to restaurants/shooping/nightlife and easy to get transportation to mumbai's downtown area, where main city attractions are. If anyone has any recommendations, it would be truly appreciated! |

I stayed at the Ramee in Khar twice during my recent trip to India...just for one night between stay in Fort and move to Juhu at first, and then again for my 3 nights in Mumbai at the end.
To be honest I did not use any restaurants etc very close (but did drink at the hotel's Irish Pub which I enjoyed) as I would usually head up to Andheri/Juhu area...but I do know for sure that there is a hotel/pub very close that is extra special because it serves alcohol on dry days...and certainly in Bandra there is quite a lot... The hotel was clean, helpful staff, room not to big but very nice (suuuch a comfortable bed...I slept very well here). Nice bathroom too, especially in the first when I was lucky enough to get a bath. Only (very slight) inconvenience when I was there was some work going on at the entrance of the hotel. Oh, and if staying there, as most autos won't know it, remember the street, and also mention the Irish Pub which is on the corner and first you will see of the hotel from SV Road. Whichever you choose, enjoy ![]() |

My edit didn't work, so just adding that there is no problem getting transport from there - on all but one occasion when I had to go around the corner there were autos just across the road on the sidestreet (a very easy to cross road) and taxis (which will be needed to get to the downtown) just around the corner. The hotel staff are also happy to get either right up to the front door for you. The train station is also very close, just a few minutes walk away.
