Mumbai - shopping for clothes/fabrics!
Hi there!
I was wondering which are the best places (markets and/or shops) in Mumbai to shop for fabrics or already made garments. In which markets can tailors be found? We'll be taking very few things from home and would like to stock up before heading south! We have two full days in the city. Thanks a ton! Sònia ![]() |

Hi, and welcome to IndiaMike
![]() Have you searched around the site some? The question gets asked quite a bit. Try the sub-forum you're in http://www.indiamike.com/india/mumbai-bombay-f22, or http://www.indiamike.com/india/moving-to-mumbai-f101/, or http://www.indiamike.com/india/search.php. You can scroll to the bottom of this (or any) page and find a bunch of "similar threads" to get you started. Those will again have similar threads at bottom, etc. etc.

For Ready made garments, one can hit Fashion Street in South Mumbai. It will give you an idea of all possible variations on a "budget". [Rs 100 to 500] If you are willing to go in for more costly items, then one can go to M J Market or Mangaldas Market which is nearby. Here you get fabrics only. The surrounding shops also have readymades, and tailors are everywhere...

Thanks for your answers!
Well, I had done a quick search for similar threads without much success, so I have to do a "calm" read! Sorry, I know these kind of topics are probably getting constantly asked! Cheers, Sònia ![]() |

Visit the Phonix Mills Mall at Lower Parel, or one of the Shoppers Stop outlets at several locations in Mumbai for clothes.

Go to Fab India, it's really a fab store. Excellent quality ready made garments plus fantastic home store. If you go to the one between Colaba and Fort, don't miss a fenomenal cafe upstairs, best chocolate fudge in my life!
