mumbai nightlife?
mumbai nightlife?
Hi, i'm heading to mumbai in 3 weeks and was just wondering what the nightlife is like there.
i have read that alot of the clubs only allow couples in and are quite exclusive and expensive. is this true and are there any other party options for backpackers on a budget?
are there any good bars to go for a few beers with a bit of atmosphere? i'm a big fan of indian beer so wouldnt mind doing a bit of sampling!
and one more thing, are these bars happening on week days as we will have left mumbai before the weekend?(heading to goa)
thanks a mil,
luciano.
p.s anyone know if there is a brewery in mumbai - someone told me they went to the kingfisher brewery in bangalore and were very impressed!

That's very true. Booze in Mumbai is the most expensive in India. The same beer which costs Rs 45 at a shack on the beach in Goa will cost you Rs 135 at the pubs in Mumbai. The people at the higher end clubs in Mumbai tend to be very snooty and unless you are really loaded with cash they won't give you the time of day. I lived in Bandra, so Club7 (on top of Shopper's Stop shopping centre), H20 and Shooters on Linking Road were my places. Going for beer - Toto's on Palinaka in Bandra.
Most places have cover charges, but even you get coupons for that and can excange the latter for drinks, so not too bad.
And as I recall Brew Bar in Phoenix Mills (Lower Parel) had unlimited beer for Rs 200 on Fridays from 8-9 pm, but you'd have to check this again

Anchka, if you don't mind me asking where do you work in Mumbai?
