Mumbai Marathon

Hi. My first thread so will try not ask too many silly questions to begin with.
Over in Jan for the above, always wanted to go to India so thought we would have a run at the same time. Have booked Air India flights and the Residency Hotel in Fort until the 25th. But we ( my mate is with me) are looking to go to Hampi or Ajanta/Ellora cannot decide, we have 5/6 days to see a place, any comments. The marathon looks the easy bit (all you do is run) lots of train/other questions to come

Cheers

Firstly, welcome to IM.

I hope you enjoy your holiday and marathon. Just a thought though - if you are coming from the UK, have you thought about getting acclimatized before you start your marathon? In January 2007 the average temperature, measured by the Central England Temperature, was just seven degrees Celsius; that was the highest January temperature since 1921! Mumbai will be quite different. The BBC website shows an average minimum of 19 degrees C (presumably night time) and an average maximum of 28 degrees C. The average relative humidity in the morning is 70%. 26 miles is quite some run in those conditions.

Hi Thanks for that. Did know about the weather before we decided to run. It won't be a chase like here in Europe just a sightseeing jog and we aim to have a good time and enjoy the experience.

I haven't been to either Hampi or Ajanta/Ellora, but I guess it's kind of like asking who you would rather stay with after the divorce, you're mum or dad. From the guidebooks and what people have said on IM, Hampi is the winner.

Well we decided on Hampi in the end as it seemed like the place to go to spend 4/5 days and have a wander about. As its the first time in India for us we could have gone anywhere and been happy. It hard to know where to start. Hopefully I will get another chance to return and see somemore.

Did you eventually run in any form of marathon?

Have a good run. Looking forward to a jog around your city. Any idea what brand the energy/isotonic drink is.

Sorry no idea. Energy drinks are provided only to Half & Full Marathoners. In which category are you planning to run ?

Gator / Redbull are two options you have for high energy drinks
