Mumbai. First Time. 10 hours between international and domestic flights
We (Two young women) decided to start our journey to Southern India from Mumbai. We’l arrive at 6 am from Moscow and have a next flight to Cochin at 4.30 pm.
1.We want to find some hotel where we can leave our bag with winter clothes till our return to Mumbai after three weeks journey. Is it possible and at which area better to looking for such hotel. 2. I heard about crazy traffic in Mumbai. Do we have enough time to walking in the centre? How long to get Fort area or Colaba by taxi. It will be rush hours (8-9am). Or better take a train? 3. Another variant take a taxi for 8 hours and have round trip international airport-centre-domestic airport. What do you recommend? Thanks a lot |

You will have enough time to go to Fort area. Trains will be very crowded, so if you are fine with it then thats the fastest mode of transport. But best will be to take a cab for 8 hours. Leave for Fort from hotel at about 7.30-8.00 you could reach there in 90 mins max. Then you can spend couple of hours there and start your return trip by 13.00 so you reach airport by 15.30. Have a great time in Mumbai!!

I think it should be possible. You could ask the hotel before checking in for the day you are going to spend in Mumbai. In the hotel section of this site you could find many hotels around Airport.

1] fastest & cheapest is local train from andheri to cst 2] the other option is taking a bus and take a day pass which is around 20/25 rps in you can travel around anywhere in Mumbai for whole day till midnight there are reserved seats for women passengers also I think you will like it 3] hire a taxi go to fort it will be costly |

Total time about 90 min from airport , you have to come to Andheri station take a return ticket to CST station it will be much faster if you go in train if you are coming on Sunday then the best option is train only

I suggest avoiding trains at all costs. I stay at Colaba and it takes 1.5 Hrs easily, plan for extra at peak hours. There are few choke points were you might get stuck in congestion. I suggest if possible arrange a tazi for the day at the airport, will be able to do that after you claim baggage before you leave terminus, there are kiosks. Dont think you will get a hotel for your baggage, will pay through the nose if so, could be wrong though. You from Moscow, hence the winter wear?

An alternative idea for your luggage is to use the left luggage facility at CST. Provided your bag is locked they will keep it for 10 Rs a day. Sorry CST = The main central rail station.

BE very careful where you leave you bags !! where will you be staying whenyou come back to mumbai ? the problem is with such hig security no oneis ready to keep luggage! there are a few places near the airport that have left luggage but ill have to get the numbers for you !
see the trains can get crazy but are cheap and fast ! if you take a cab to colaba ask for the rate card and pay exactly that much NOT 1 rupee more no matter what the cab guy says tell him youll take him to to a cop if he askes for more money that have a habbit of trying to rip people off . colaba and fort should be fun ! otherwise you could take a cab and go to bandra linking road and see an indian market which is near by ! say 20 mins max from the airport ! do let me know if you come to goa ! could help you a lot more here cheers |
