Talking stay at home...

Half of us stayed at home yesterday and most of us are at home today.

Waterlogging on the streets.

Hence am at home.

Hence came to IndiaMike after quite a while...

Cool are the monnys as bad as they say?.

I'm arriving on Sunday, and completely spinning. We get the monsoons in Oz, but we don't have to share them with fifty million people. Are they as horrific as said, or are ya just a bit waterlogged?. http://www.indiamike.com/india/image...es/tongue3.gif

Well Monday was stuck for 3 hours while going to work at Powai from Kemps Corner .. was stuck at Dadar/Parel did come back ... on on Tuesday went via western-express high just o be stuck at the Andheri flyover for 2 hours and finally came back... Luckly me did take a u-turn in time.. itseems later on Tuesday Andheri (E), Highways etc got worst...

I STRONGLY feel the only solution is to pvt. the system than expecting BMC to solve the problem... Imagine the similar thing has happend with 152mm of rainfall as compared to last years 900odd mm of rainfall. it seems they have made the situation worse in the name of improving it...

I feel the same way too,Amar.

The only improvement from the last year is that BMC/Govt are issuing warnings all too promptly...whether required or not...

Yeh hai Mumbai meri jaan...

Amar Bhai, Anindya,

The only solution is that we take all these Ministers, BMC officialls and people incharge and give them a dunk in this water.

Really it iritates me that after paying taxes and putting so much effort to keep our city clean we end up in this S*** dished up by these guys.

Last evening when I saw Mr. J Joseph give himself / BMC a pat on the back for having done a good job I felt like taking him to the my factory area in Andheri where we never had waterlogging untill last year and where the large open drain has not been cleaned or desilted as he was claiming.

We should all question these guys on what were they doing - under the right to information act.

Let us teach these guys that they cannot take us Mumbaikars for granted for so long.

Mani ( Drenched , dunked and at home)

palerider..here are some local newspapers to read whats going on. it can get pretty bad.

DNA Mumbai
Mid Day
The Afternoon Dispatch & Courier
Bombay Times
Mumbai Mirror

the politicians live in south bombay where nothing happens as in flooding and what not. move them to to nagpur/pune/nasik and create a union territory for bombay or independent administration of the city. there are too many hands and agencies at the moment, a ceremonial mayor, no planning, no vision, no leadership.

we are sitting on 100 year old sewage systems, a transport system bursting at its seams. the airport has one run way operational at a time, accident waiting to happen...and we stil love the city...!

I had a lovely time showing around a friend from Romania to the sights of Mumbai city from afternoon till pretty late at night!!! I don't think he ever expected me to come to his hotel at Crawford Market from Dadar today at least!!! And after I reached there pretty dry even after taking a bus from where I stay it seems I was the only crazy guy who was doing such a thing!!! We had a long long walk around the area and we enjoyed it too. Lots of rain, no trains, but the spirit was not dampened!!! And this too after working in the rains in the night shift yesterday!!!

Cheers,
Aadil.

During the rains saw lots of plastic bags, wrappers & lots of other litter floating in the flooded water.
Who is to blame for this ? Sure not the BMC. It is general public who is to blame for this.
Def. if so much litter is not there then we can cut down the damage drastically.

Ronak.

cut down damage drastically?..not a chance brother if it was only plastic bags and litter. thats a start though. there is the 100 year old drainage system that the british built that still does its job in the island. the minute you get to suburbs, there has been rampant construction, unplanned and haphazard development and no proper drainage planned for this high density of population. add to slums and enroachments..what do ya do?

the BMC gets into the act a couple of months before the monsoon season. there is absolute lack of leadership, vision , strategy and planning. too many agencies.... no one to take responsibility, a ceremonial mayor, the governor is a ceremonial head as well sitting in that posh bungalow by the sea, the chief minister holds on to his chair...who knows when the rug under his is going to be pulled by that madam...no political will to take any decisions.

the revenue goes to delhi, bombay begs with a bowl/gets leftovers after bihar, environmental clearances take years and some random dandekar files a court case for even building a bridge..25 years or more it sits in some random file in some random shelf.....the wonderful thing called democracy...too much of it..committees, courts, analysis paralysis..pah!..calling mr khairnar, seshan, guiliani or lee kuan yew.

yes..the citizens have a bombay have a share in the fault but the leadership has failed them, their elected representatives have failed them..

we need to hold some of these leaders by the balls..and demand action...the governor, the CM (and is there a deputy CM), the mayor, johnny joseph all should be paid daily wages (no work no pay), made to live in dombivili or virar..(and i dont care if these areas come under BMC) and catch the morning and evening local back home.

such a waste of space, time and money..this governor and the mayor..who needs them?..rubberstamps, doorknobs, paperweights..let see what else i say of them....

that spicy green chutney gave me the worst runs the last time i had in the rainy season!..
