Question Meeting Boyfriend at Mumbai airport

Hi there,
I will be arriving at the Mumbai airport at 3:55 am and will be meeting up with my boyfriend to travel with him for 3 weeks. This being my first trip to India I am a little nervous to venture out alone, so he will be coming to the airport to pick me up. Now, where would be the best place for him to meet me in the airport? Can he easily get to the area I will be picking up my luggage??
Thanks for any help.

Well the at arrival gate will be ideal place, as entry to the airport is ristricted, he can met you at the arrival gate. Keep you eyes open for him as the place get crowded but its easy and ideal choice

Enjoy ya stay n travel within India

cheers

This sounds obvious, but just make sure you keep his mobile number handy (if he is on roaming, make sure you dial it properly, you need to add a zero or smth) and use a phone booth (it won't look like a booth really, it's just a person sitting with a phone). When I first landed in Mumbai I arrived on a different plane than the one I had mentioned to the friend who was supposed to meet me (last minute airline strike), at a different time and gate, and when I reached I also noticed, to my horror, that I had lost the phone number as well....so you can imagine my dispair (and India looked absolutely frightening to me then...).

the phone is a good idea. As amarshah said, it can be very crowded. Good idea to know what colour shirt he will be wearing, and what you will be.

(eg: I will be the one with the red carnation carrying the International Herald tribune :-) )

I have always wondered why there are no designated meeting points at Indian airports.

He'll see you before you see him,,,,,,,,
To you it'll just be a sea of faces,To him it'll just be the next person walking through.
Just walk steadily to give him chance to spot you & don't walk further than the end of the arrivals walk.
You'll be fine.

Thanks everyone. We don't travel with phones so that option is out. I've decided to be brave and do it all alone. I'll take a cab to the hotel hes staying at. How scary can it be... dont answer that! I should be fine. Thanks for the help

At arrival gate in Bombay airport, you can't be missed everyone comes out of one narrow 5 yard wide gate. In case you hire a cab, get prepaid one from inside the airport. And Bombay airport has very little if any tout problem, so do not worry

Make sure that he waits at the right exit. There are two exits from the international terminal. You will use one of them depending on the airline you are arriving by.

yes prepaid taxi is a good idea. plus prepaid taxi will discourage the taxi wallah from getting any stupid ideas as his name/number is in records with passenger name and his destination
