Looking for hand-painter for shop sign

Hi everybody,

I'm going to Mumbai on Jully. And I'm looking for a hand-painter on Mumbai. I would like to ask him to make copy of indian shop sign. I am not looking for an artist (fine arts) , just a good hand-painter who can paint on metal sheet.

I remember to meet 15 years ago a nice hand-painter on streets of Delhi, and he did a nice work for me ( typical indian shop sign ) . So , on Mumbai I don't know where can I find someone. Digital printing has taken the place of hand-painter, now it's computer wich paint on vinyl everywhere, but I hope somewhere on Mumbai still hand-painter who could make this kind of stuff

any ideas ?

You are correct, world has changed in past 15 years and a lot of works are being done digitally, I believe!

But you may contact any truck body makers who could suggest you the address of such painters.

Finding a hand painter (or precise word for the same should be Sign board painter) would be a difficult job. Having said that, I would suggest you to meet any shop owner (which carries a hand painted board on its head) and ask him/her who had painted the board. Another possible way would be to read phone number written on any ad painted on the wall (especially of cold drinks or banyan, etc) and call the painter or agency which did so.
