Question Looking for a good tailor in Mumbai

Hi, We are coming to Mumbai from Alaska so my Mom can have her hip operated on. Do you know of any good tailors for men and women's clothing? What kind of fabrics are available?
Thank you
Ann

Many many

Huge choice available. Both in fabrics and tailors. Westerners will recommend tailors around Colaba, coz its the tourist district. Since you are coming for mum's hip surgery; the area where you intend to stay will matter in the choice of tailor.

I am originally from Mumbai but have settled in the US now. I have a men's tailor I have worked with for many many years even before I left Mumbai and every time I visit. I can strongly recommend this tailor but I have to look up the contact phone and address. Please send me a PM. Thanks.

Tailors in India are in almost every street (very different from those you might have in Alaska/US) , you can even see their sewing machines etc from outside.
The good thing is, (assuming who needs tailoring is the patient) the tailor will come to the hospital to take measurements. (there may be a slight fee for it.)
I need your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle.

Myself and my partner had shirts, and he a suit, made up in Colaba - 'Golden Boutique'. Very pleasant guys, done in the said 2 days and decent pricing. The fabrics are fairly traditional, the main thing i guess (as their magazines are old) is to take a picture of the garment you want made, a better way of communicating incase that dont know what you mean, or havnt made the garment before. But it was a pleasant experience for us, and beautifully made pieces.

Womens Tailor for Salwar Kameez

Hi

I arrive in Mumbai from the UK for 4 days on 9th Jan. I am a 5ft 8 inch female - presumably if I want a Salwar Kameez, as I am taller than most Indian women, I would have to get one made?

If not do the tailors in Mumbai have stuff already made up that I could try on.

I will be staying in Colaba.

Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks

Sian

I just went to http://www.justdial.com/srch/Alt_search_cwoa.php put in city = mumbai service = tailor and area colaba and it gave me tons of options.
It doesn't interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare dream of meeting your heart's longing.
