Living/'Working" in Mumbai
Hi, basically intending to live and work (perhaps Bollywood and freelance photographer) in Mumbai for 2-4 months with my girlfriend after tour around South India. Any tips/advice on renting an apartment as a foreigner and getting work, perhaps in Bollywood / Modeling (advertising, commercials etc) work?

Hi..
Well a lot depends on your budget. You will usually not get appts on rent for 2-4 months easily. But you can try: www.magicbricks.com www.99acres.com Mumbai is a crowded city, location is very important.. it will save you time as well as money if you are located at the right place. Since you are a photographer, I would suggest you stay: Bandra(1st Preference) Pros: Centrally located. Markets and entertainment within walkable distance Access to 2 out of 3 train lines Easy access to sea face Well connected A little peaceful(if you ignore the markets) And home to tons of Bollywood stars! Cons: Very Costly Andheri(2nd pref): Pros: The new Hub of Mumbai Lots of options for entertainment/malls etc Cheaper than Bandra + decent living conditions Well connected via 2 out of three train lines Home to most of the TV stars(In and around Andheri) Close to few old studios of Mumbai Not cramped in terms of space Its a large district and hence lots of quiet places Cons: Traveling involved Crowded as compared to other places(new comers get a panic attack seeing the mob at Andheri station) Plus there are a lot of other options.. If you have a budget in mind then itll be easier... |

I was thinking more of bollywood acting, and doing photography as a freeline.
Varunbomber - with the first choice, when you say 'very expensive', how expensive do you mean? |
